About the Company

Join the Rocketship ?

We’re building ShopOS — AI agents powering the entire ecommerce stack. Already past PMF, we’re scaling fast and shaping the future of how online brands are built with AI. Co-founded by seasoned builders with multiple successful exits to companies like Flipkart and Polygon Labs — and backed by Binny Bansal — this isn’t just another start-up. It’s your front-row seat to the next big shift in ecommerce.

About the Role

As a Workflow Engineer at ShopOS, you'll be responsible for building the backbone of automation that powers our AI-native commerce stack — and then owning it. That means designing and implementing modular, node-based workflow systems that integrate across catalog management, creative tools, personalization engines, and fulfillment systems, but it also means being the person who fixes them when they break, upgrades them as we scale, and documents them well enough that anyone on the team can pick them up.

This role is for engineers who enjoy solving complex logic puzzles, who think in flows and systems rather than one-off deliverables, and who want to make things smarter, faster, and more reliable — not just build them once and move on. You'll work closely with product, AI, and design teams to turn business rules into reusable, low-code/no-code automations that deliver outsized leverage to our users.

What You'll Own

- Build node-based, rule-driven workflows that support eCommerce operations and AI agent interactions
- Develop modular workflow components that can be composed into reusable, logic-driven flows
- Integrate with APIs, data systems, and 3rd-party services (Shopify, Stripe,

Zapier, etc.)
- Diagnose and fix bugs in live workflows — including ones you didn't originally build
- Upgrade and refactor existing workflows for better reliability, speed, and cost
- Audit workflows on a regular cadence — flag fragile, redundant, or failure-prone flows before they cause problems
- Maintain clear documentation for every workflow: what it does, what it depends on, what breaks it, how to fix it
- Set up admin interfaces and audit tools to monitor workflow health and performance
- Partner with product managers and designers to make workflows intuitive, testable, and transparent to end-users
- Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to embed intelligence into decision points
- Own end-to-end delivery of key internal or external workflows (e.g. onboarding, content pipelines, personalization loops)
- Bring creative, non-obvious solutions to recurring operational problems — not just the standard fix

What We're Looking For

- CS background, with solid coding fundamentals
- Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Comfortable with Python for scripting and automation logic
- Hands-on experience with node-based / visual workflow builders (we currently run on Make; familiarity with n8n, Zapier, or similar counts too)
- Familiarity with Figma, Weavy, and ComfyUI

- Thinks in frameworks and systems rather than one-off deliverables
- Strong debugging discipline — able to trace a failure across multiple connected systems, not just one node
- Comfortable with API integration (REST/GraphQL) and external services
- 2–4 years of experience — we're actively open to junior CS grads. Regardless of experience level, everyone gets trained on our systems, so raw fundamentals and problem-solving instinct matter more than years on a resume

Bonus Points

- Deep understanding of workflow engines, state machines, or rule engines
- Experience with event-driven architectures and queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
- Working knowledge of Postgres and Redis
- Comfortable with infra-as-code (Docker, Terraform), monitoring, and CI/CD
- Experience with other low-code/no-code or visual workflow tools (Temporal, Langchain, Camunda, Retool)
- Exposure to AI/LLM systems and how workflows interface with prompt generation, chaining, etc.
- Previous experience in commerce, logistics, or creative ops automation
- Built internal ops tools or dashboards from scratch in a quick-moving startup
- Familiarity with configuration-driven or metadata-driven engineering

You'll Thrive If You Are…

- A builder who thinks in flows, states, and transitions
- Obsessed with making systems smarter, faster, and self-healing
- Pragmatic about complexity — knowing when to write code and when to wire blocks
- Solution-first — you show up with fixes, not just problem reports
- A team player who enjoys working across product, design, and AI teams
- Excited by the idea of creating leverage and automation for every human in the loop
