Role & responsibilities

- Taking handing over and taking over of the equipment on daily bases from shift to shift

- Administration of the oral medicines, IV fluids, IM injections.

- Instillation of eye medication as per the orders.

- Follow the special instruction as advised by the physician

- Able to perform the basic life support in emergency situation

- Checking the crash cart drugs in emergency facility

- Identify the venerable patients and provide the designated facilities

- Carry out the Nursing care plan on daily basis

- Preparing the patients/attendants/parents and obtaining their cooperation for procedures such as anesthesia, surgery and medical care.

- Maintaining the radiation precautions of the brachy therapy patients.

- Following the universal precautions.

- Following the special positions for the post retina vitreal surgeries.

- Carry out the Pre-operative preparation and following the pre-operative orders.

- Follow the DVT observation and document as per the NTG protocol.

- Preparation of eye drops as per the institute norms in the absence of senior nurse.

- Supervising the activities of Nursing assistants and PCAs

- Taking consents in emergency situations.





- Receiving the admissions and orienting the patient about ward and inpatient policies.

- Issuing the attendant pass to the patient and preparing and sending the visiting passes to the security desk., Vital signs recording and documentation

- Taking care of Preoperative preparation.

- Post surgical observations and documenting them.

- Follow the post-operative treatment, following the postoperative rounds with the consultant.

- Participate and assist the doctor in medical emergency

- Checking the crash cart in emergency facility

- Able to perform the basic life support in emergency situation

- Check the maintenance issues and call log them

- Take care of wards cleanness in coordination with Housekeeping

- Follow the Isolation precautions

- Take care of patient food requirements in coordinating with the cafeteria staff

- Checking the medical equipment working condition on daily basis and document

- Able place the I/V line, Helping the Insurance patients in their clearance

Giving discharge Instructions to all patients.
