Role : Active Directory Administrator
Job Summary
The Server & Active Directory Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's Windows Server environment, Active Directory (AD), and related IT infrastructure. The role involves deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and securing server systems to ensure high availability, performance, and compliance with IT policies.
Key Responsibilities
Active Directory Administration
Manage and maintain Active Directory (AD), including user accounts, groups, GPOs, OU structure, DNS, and security policies.
Implement and enforce identity and access management (IAM) best practices.
Monitor and troubleshoot AD replication, authentication, and authorization issues.
Configure and maintain Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
Implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access policies.
Windows Server Administration
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments.
Manage virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) for server deployments.
Perform server performance tuning and optimization.
Patch and update servers using WSUS or other patch management tools.
Ensure server security through regular updates, hardening, and compliance checks.
Infrastructure & Security
Manage and maintain DNS, DHCP, DFS, and File/Print services.
Configure and troubleshoot Group Policy (GPO) settings for security and compliance.
Monitor system logs, detect security threats, and respond to incidents.
Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, Commvault, etc.).
Cloud & Hybrid AD Integration (if applicable)
Administer and integrate Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) with on-premises AD.
Support Microsoft 365 identity and security features.
Manage hybrid identity synchronization using Azure AD Connect.
User & Technical Support
Provide Level 2/3 support for Active Directory and server-related issues.
Work closely with IT teams to support business applications and services.
Maintain documentation of systems, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
8 + years of experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
Robust understanding of AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, and security best practices.
Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
Experience with cloud technologies (Azure AD, AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, AZ-104) are preferred.
