Job Description:

As a member of Nokia's Optical Networks System Architecture team, you will play a key role in defining the next generation of optical networking solutions. You will be responsible for the architecture and design of high-speed coherent interfaces and transponders for advanced DWDM communication systems, translating customer and market needs into clear system, functional, and user interface requirements. Working closely with Systems Architects, Systems Engineers, Software Development, Test Engineering, and Technical Documentation teams, you will drive innovative solutions from concept through implementation, helping deliver industry-leading products that power the world's most demanding networks.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with product line management to translate customer requirements and strategic objectives into comprehensive system architecture, functional specifications, and technical requirements.
- Lead cross-functional teams in evaluating new feature requests, assessing technical feasibility, and developing innovative solutions aligned with product objectives.
- Develop and maintain clear, concise and consistent architectural documentation, product feature requirements, and related technical design artefacts.
- Collaborate with system architects, hardware, software, and verification to ensure alignment between requirements, design, implementation, and validation activities.
- Provide technical guidance to product line management, R&D;, documentation, and customer-facing teams to review designs and documentation, and to clarify and resolve issues.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Experience developing innovative, competitive product architectures and concepts for optical network equipment based on business requirements, use cases and applicable DWDM and OTN industry standards (e.g., ITU, IEEE).
- Experience with design trade-offs between cost,



function, capacity and performance.
- Experience with optical line interfaces/transponders, OTN switches and other transport and switching network elements.
- Familiarity with optical network equipment architecture, including system cooling, power supply, chassis and controller design.
- Familiarity with optical line systems and ROADMs is beneficial.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools and methodologies, e.g., Cursor and AI-enabled Software Development Lifecycle (AI-SDLC) processes, and familiarity with the Agile development process are beneficial.
- Self-motivated team player with demonstrated success collaborating across cross-functional, global, and culturally diverse engineering organizations.
- Should be passionate to assume responsibility for a technical product concept / architecture / feature from concept through test.

Education & Experience Requirements

- A BSc or higher degree in Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the telecommunications or optical networking industry, with at least 5 years of significant experience in Optical Transport Systems Architecture.
