Textile Engineer – Saree Construction & Weaving Technology

We are seeking an experienced Textile Engineer with strong knowledge of weaving, saree construction, fabric structures, loom technologies, and textile production. The ideal candidate should be able to translate design concepts into technically feasible weaving structures and collaborate with designers, weavers, production teams, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement weaving constructions for sarees, including body, border, pallu, and blouse sections.
- Understand and develop saree architecture, repeat structures, motifs, and weaving patterns.
- Translate textile and design concepts into loom-ready specifications.
- Work with jacquard, dobby, power looms, handlooms, and other relevant weaving technologies.
- Analyze warp and weft behavior, yarn properties, density, tension, and fabric performance.
- Plan appropriate pick structures and weave constructions for different saree sections.
- Work with CAD/design teams to convert artwork into technically feasible textile designs.
- Collaborate with weavers, mills, vendors, and production teams during sampling and production.
- Troubleshoot weaving-related issues and recommend suitable technical solutions.
- Evaluate fabrics and samples for quality, construction, durability, appearance, and finishing.




- Research new fabrics, yarns, weaving techniques, and textile technologies.
- Maintain technical documentation, specifications, sampling records, and production details.
- Support the development of new and innovative textile products by combining traditional techniques with technology.

Required Skills

- Solid understanding of textile engineering and weaving technology.
- Good knowledge of saree construction and traditional Indian textiles.
- Understanding of warp, weft, weave structures, GSM, EPI, PPI, yarn count, and fabric density.
- Knowledge of jacquard and dobby weaving systems.
- Ability to interpret and create weaving drafts and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with textile CAD or relevant design software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with designers and technical/production teams.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willingness to work in a startup environment and adapt to new technologies.

Preferred Qualification

- Bachelor's/Diploma/Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Weaving Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working with sarees, ethnic textiles, silk, cotton, blended fabrics, or jacquard fabrics.
- Experience working with handloom or power loom weaving.
- Exposure to AI, automation, or technology-driven textile development will be an advantage.
