About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Relay Testing Engineer to join our manufacturing and testing team at Derabassi.

The incumbent will be responsible for the testing, inspection, commissioning readiness, troubleshooting, and quality assurance of HT panels up to 33 kV and LT panels up to 800 V. The role requires sound technical knowledge of electrical protection systems, relays, control circuits, and testing equipment, along with the ability to identify and resolve testing-related issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive electrical testing of HT and LT panels, including:
- Continuity and insulation resistance (IR) testing
- High Voltage (HV) testing
- Control circuit testing
- Interlocking and functional testing
- Relay testing and protection scheme verification
- Secondary injection and other applicable tests
- Perform relay testing and configuration using Omicron and other relevant relay testing equipment.
- Verify wiring, control circuits, protection schemes,



electrical components, and panel functionality as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Inspect materials, components, wiring, enclosures, and assemblies to ensure compliance with defined quality requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and relay-related issues during testing, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare and maintain test reports, inspection records, checklists, and other quality/testing documentation.
- Ensure testing activities are carried out in accordance with applicable IS, IEC, ANSI standards, approved drawings, customer specifications, and safety procedures.
- Coordinate closely with Design, Production, Quality, and Project teams for timely resolution of testing and technical issues.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), customer inspections, and third-party inspection/witness testing.
- Review test results and ensure all identified observations are properly closed before panel dispatch.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to testing procedures, quality, safety, and testing efficiency.
- Ensure proper handling, calibration, and upkeep of testing instruments and equipment.
- Stay updated on relevant protection systems, relay technologies,



testing methodologies, and applicable electrical standards.

Candidate Requirements

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering.
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in electrical panel testing, relay testing, electrical QA/QC, or a similar role, preferably in a panel manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Primary & Secondary Injection Test Kits
- Omicron Relay Testing Kit
- Megger / Insulation Resistance Tester
- Multimeter
- HV Testing Equipment
- Other electrical testing and measurement instruments
- Strong understanding of HT/LT panels, protection relays, control circuits, interlocking, CT/PT circuits, and electrical protection schemes.
- Working knowledge of IS/IEC/ANSI standards applicable to MV/LV panels and electrical testing.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and protection/control circuit drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures, quality standards, and work discipline.
