RESEARCH ENGINEER 2 EXP- 2+ Designation: Research Engineer, Coated Abrasives We seek to hire an Research Engineer with a background in Material science/ Polymers to be part of Coated Abrasives Research and Development team located at Saint-Gobain Innovation hub India (SGII), Chennai, with a mission to develop new products/ solutions and technology to enable business growth and innovation. The candidate will work closely with the business and the R&D; competency teams, both regional and global, develop a fundamental understanding of existing knowhow of process/products and develop solutions using different tools and techniques available. They will also be expected to leverage internal and external resources and suggest solutions backed by sound analytical and logical reasoning. Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will: 1. Possess a robust fundamental understanding of engineering and scientific principles. 2. Contribute actively to ongoing projects by bringing in technical expertise and a curious mindset. Design and plan experiments to address specific research and development objectives as part of specific R&D; projects. Work collaboratively with senior scientists and engineers to carry out experiments as advised. 3. Maintain thorough documentation of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions. Be able to articulate findings effectively to different stakeholders.



Collaborate with business teams to understand and identify customer/product needs and requirements. 4. Work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders across business, manufacturing, quality control, application engineering and field sales team to identify solutions, scale up pilot and lab scale designs to industrial lines, test products at customer. 5. Willingness to travel for extended periods as required for project-related activities, such as manufacturing trials, field tests, customer visits and interviews, process/ application trials. Educational Background: 1. M.S in Material Science & Engineering or Polymer with thesis work or hands on experience with understanding materials, structural properties, and process. Desired skills & Experience: 1. Desired: Working experience in Material Sci (or) Engg.| 2+ years of experience in R&D;, Manufacturing and/or Process will be an added bonus 2. Candidate must be highly energetic, result-driven and demonstrate passion for research. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Proven two-way communication skills to deliver the right messages convincingly with right structuring adapted to the target audience. 3. Good to have: Previous experience of working with pilot lines will be an added bonus
