Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Urban Planner with a minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in urban planning, urban design and large-scale statutory planning projects for Visakhapatnam (Vizag) location. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in the preparation and implementation of large-scale Master Plans, Development Plans, Town Planning Schemes (TPS), Local Area Plans (LAP) and other statutory planning instruments.

The candidate should have a proven track record of leading complex urban planning assignments for cities with populations exceeding 10 lakh and planning areas greater than 500 hectares.

Experience in large-scale land pooling, land readjustment and Town Planning Schemes is essential. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, project management and presentation skills, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with government agencies, clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage Master Plans, Development Plans, TPS, LAP and other statutory planning projects.




- Responsible for spatial development frameworks encompassing infrastructure planning, mixed-use development strategies and city-level urban interventions.
- Prepare and review spatial development frameworks and planning strategies.
- Guide land use planning, infrastructure planning and urban development proposals.
- Provide technical expertise in land pooling, land readjustment and TPS implementation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, planning standards and development controls.
- Coordinate with government agencies, urban local bodies and development authorities.
- Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for project-related matters.
- Facilitate stakeholder consultations, workshops and public engagement activities.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants and technical experts.
- Review and oversee preparation of reports, plans, maps and statutory documentation.
- Deliver high-quality presentations and technical submissions to clients and stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules, quality standards and timely delivery of project outputs.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in architecture / urban planning / urban design.
- Master’s degree in urban planning or equivalent planning discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in urban planning and large-scale statutory planning projects.
- Comfortable working at Visakhapatnam (Vizag) as it is a full-time, field-based position and it will require on-ground presence.
- Strong analytical and leadership skills.
- Experience in working on GIS-based masterplans.
