Job Title: Principal Researcher – Assay Development & Biosensors
Company: NeoQ Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha (On-site)
Project Focus: Advanced Point-of-Care (POC) Diagnostics Portfolio
NeoQ Healthcare is seeking a Senior Researcher to lead the biochemical assay development for our expanding pipeline of rapid point-of-care (POC) electrochemical testing kits. You will serve as the scientific authority and principal mentor to our internal biomedical engineering team, driving the transition from early-stage wet-lab experimentation to fully validated, commercial-ready diagnostic prototypes across various biomarker targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Scientific Leadership: Design and optimize electrochemical reaction architectures for the rapid, highly specific quantitative detection of target analytes from complex biological matrices (e.g., low-volume capillary blood, serum).
- Engineering Mentorship: Directly guide and supervise our biomedical engineers in translating wet-lab assay protocols into secure, dry-reagent diagnostic formats, such as disposable test strips or microfluidic cartridges.
- Experimental Design & Validation: Formulate rigorous Design of Experiments (DoE) for assay optimization, evaluating parameters including limit of detection (LoD), linear dynamic range, reagent stability, and interference mitigation (e.g., managing electroactive confounders and hematocrit variations). • Infrastructure & Protocol Management: Oversee the setup, utilization,
and maintenance of the AIC SOA Foundation wet-lab facilities to ensure strict adherence to ISO 13485 R&D; standards and general laboratory best practices.
- Clinical Validation Strategy: Architect method-comparison study protocols to benchmark our POC biosensor prototypes against gold-standard clinical auto analyzers, ensuring analytical accuracy and clinical relevance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: PhD / MS / M. Tech. in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Diagnostics, or a closely related discipline.
- Domain Expertise: Proven industry or high-level academic track record in developing point-of-care (POC) in-vitro diagnostics (IVDs) with a solid emphasis on electrochemical biosensors (e.g., amperometric, potentiometric, or impedance-based platforms).
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of biosensor surface chemistry, transducer modification (e.g., nanomaterials, polymers), protein/enzyme immobilization techniques, and dry-reagent stabilization.
- Mentorship: Previous experience managing, advising, or mentoring junior researchers, research assistants, or biomedical engineers in a laboratory setting.
- Analytical Rigor: Strong proficiency in statistical analysis for clinical diagnostics (e.g., Bland-Altman plots, CV calculations) and troubleshooting complex assay failures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the integration of assay chemistry with screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) and portable potentiostat readers.
- Understanding of regulatory pathways (CDSCO, FDA 510k, or CE-IVDR) for Class B/C medical devices.
- Experience scaling diagnostic assays from benchtop prototyping to pilot manufacturing.
