Senior Manager – Quality Control (Machine Shop) Ratan Industries Limited | Agra, Uttar Pradesh | Full-time, in office
Ratan Industries Limited manufactures grey iron and ductile (SG) iron castings, machined and supplied to construction equipment, tractor and commercial vehicle manufacturers. Operations comprise an integrated foundry, a CNC and VMC machine shop, a paint shop and a cutting-tool division. Customers include JCB India, Tata Hitachi, BEML and Escorts Kubota, with export supply to Europe. The plant operates under an IATF 16949 quality management system.
Position Senior Manager – Quality Control, Machine Shop and Paint Shop. Reports to the Head – Quality.
Scope Inspection, metrology and process control for machined and painted product. The team comprises shift quality engineers, CMM and layout engineers, in-process and final inspectors, and paint shop inspection.
Key responsibilities
- In-process, final and pre-dispatch inspection to the approved control plan, and product release authority for all dispatch from the machine shop and paint shop.
- Metrology — CMM programming and operation, layout inspection, and the design, validation and control of gauges and fixtures.
- Measurement system analysis (gauge R&R;, bias, linearity, stability) and calibration plan adherence for all inspection, measuring and test equipment.
- Statistical process control and process capability (Cp, Cpk) on customer-designated special characteristics.
- Preparation of process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans and inspection standards for machined and painted parts.
- Containment and technical investigation of machining- and painting-related defects, and technical input to 8D corrective action.
- Control of non-conforming material, verification of rework, and the daily rejection review.
- Commissioning of inspection and gauging capability for new machines.
- Internal product and process audits for the machine shop and paint shop; inspector skill matrix and certification.
Qualifications B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering; a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be considered with commensurate experience. Fluent interpretation of GD&T; to ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101. IATF 16949 Internal Auditor certification preferred. Experience 8–12 years in automotive or auto-component quality, including a minimum of 3 years in a CNC / VMC machine shop manufacturing to Tier-1 OEM drawings, and 2 years supervising inspection across shifts. Recent hands-on CMM programming and operation is essential.
