Job Summary The Product Developer owns the journey from design concept to approved first sample for the Kids & Baby Wear range. The role combines a deep, hands-on understanding of fabrics, materials, workmanship, tech pack development and pattern understanding with a strong feel for the infant and kids category — comfort, safety, fit and cost. Working closely with design, merchandising and sampling teams, the Product Developer turns range plans and creative concepts into well-engineered, production-ready garments.

Key Responsibilities

Concept to First Sample

- Drive design concepts and range plans through to an approved first sample.
- Interpret design intent and translate sketches or references into buildable garment specifications.
- Own the development calendar and deliver first samples on time for review and buyer presentation.

Fabric & Material Expertise

- Select appropriate knitted fabrics (Single Jersey, Interlock, Loopknit), GSM, composition and finish per style.
- Prioritise softness, safety and durability suited to infant and kids garments.
- Source suitable trims, elastics, prints and accessories; stay current on sustainable and certified (GOTS/organic) materials.

Workmanship & Garment Construction

- Determine correct construction, seam types and finishes for baby-safe, comfortable garments.
- Ensure workmanship standards — flat seams, secure attachments, no loose threads.
- Balance quality and cost, engineering garments that are durable and efficient to produce.

Tech Pack Development

- Create complete, accurate tech packs — construction details,



BOM, measurement specs (POM) and artwork placement.
- Develop measurement charts appropriate to each age and size group.
- Maintain and update tech packs through every development round until final approval.

Pattern Understanding & Fit

- Guide and review pattern development, working with the pattern master to achieve the correct fit.
- Evaluate fit on samples and drive corrections; build in age-appropriate ease and growth allowance.
- Ensure measurement and fit consistency across the size range.

Sampling, Approval & Coordination

- Coordinate development samples with the sampling team and track status against timelines.
- Review proto and development samples against design, tech pack and quality expectations.
- Work fluidly across design, merchandising, pattern and sampling teams, and with fabric/trim suppliers.
- Maintain organised development records — tech packs, samples, approvals and material references.

Requirements

- Deep understanding of kids wear and infant wear (0–2 years) product development.
- Solid knowledge of knitted fabrics, trims and materials suited to baby and kids garments.
- Sound grasp of garment construction and baby-safe workmanship standards.
- Proven ability to develop complete, accurate tech packs and measurement specifications.
- Solid pattern understanding to guide fit and pattern development.
- Relevant product development experience in garment / apparel manufacturing, ideally kids/baby.
- Graduate degree; qualification in fashion, textiles or apparel design preferred.
- Comfortable with MS Office and tech-pack tools; clear communicator across design and production teams.
