Rkivecity is a circular design studio that transforms post-consumer materials into collectible garments and lifestyle objects. Based in India, the studio operates across D2C retail, B2B remanufacturing, and brand partnerships, offering diverse opportunities to work with different channels and collaborators.

We are focused on reviving waste into value through design, repair, and storytelling.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Merchandiser to own orders end-to-end — from product development and costing through production and shipment. You’ll be the critical link between clients, design teams, vendors, and the production floor, ensuring orders are commercially viable, produced to quality standards, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development & Sourcing

- Coordinate with design teams and review tech packs to ensure production feasibility.
- Source fabrics, trims, labels, packaging, and other materials.
- Develop samples and coordinate fittings and approvals.
- Suggest construction improvements and value-engineering opportunities.

2. Costing & Commercials

- Prepare detailed garment costings, including consumption, labour, overheads, and other relevant costs.
- Analyze costs and lead price negotiations with clients and vendors.
- Ensure target margins are achieved across orders.
- Prepare quotations, purchase orders, and costing sheets.

3. Vendor Management

- Develop and manage fabric and trim suppliers across domestic and international markets.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.

- Evaluate vendor performance on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

4. Production Coordination

- Create and manage T&A; (Time & Action) calendars.
- Track orders from sampling through production and shipment.
- Coordinate with cutting, stitching, embroidery, washing, finishing, and QC teams.
- Monitor daily production status and identify potential delays.
- Proactively resolve production bottlenecks and escalate issues where required.

5. Client & Quality Management

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the order lifecycle.
- Provide regular production updates and manage client approvals.
- Coordinate production inspections and quality checks.
- Work closely with QA teams to reduce defects, rework, and production losses.
- Ensure products meet agreed specifications and quality standards.

6. Inventory, Documentation & Shipment

- Plan raw material requirements based on production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including POs, BOMs, cost sheets, T&A; calendars, production records, and shipment documentation.

- Coordinate with logistics and export teams to ensure timely dispatch.

- On-time delivery %
- Sampling turnaround time
- Order completion rate

- First-pass approval rate
- Defect %
- Rework %

Client

- Client satisfaction score

What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Management, Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in fashion merchandising, apparel production, or a closely related role.
- Strong understanding of garment manufacturing, fabrics, trims, garment construction, costing, and consumption.
- Experience handling both domestic and export orders.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently manage orders from development through shipment.
- Excellent communication and client-management skills.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on merchandiser who can own the complete order lifecycle, rather than someone focused only on coordination. They should be commercially sharp, comfortable working with vendors and production teams, able to communicate confidently with clients and designers, and proactive about identifying issues before they impact cost, quality, or delivery.
