Senior Full Stack Developer / Application Lead

About the RoleZenalyst builds an enterprise agentic execution layer for the CFO's office — treasury, procure-to-pay and collections automation for large organisations.

We are looking for someone to own the application layer end to end. That means the React SPA, the Java backend gateway, the data model underneath, and the boundary where our Python agent runtime meets customer financial data. You will be the person who knows how a feature actually works from browser to database, and the person a junior engineer asks when they are stuck.

This is a hands-on lead role. You will write code most days. You will also review it, break down work, set standards, and be accountable for what ships.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical ownership

- Own the application layer across frontend, backend and data model
- Make and document architecture decisions within the application layer, in consultation with the CTO
- Own the multi-tenant boundary in practice — physical database per tenant, connection selected from verified JWT principal, no tenant identifier ever accepted from a request body
- Own the contract between the Java backend gateway and the Python agent runtime; this is the single exit path to customer data and it stays that way
- Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas for treasury domain objects; own migration strategy across tenant databases
- Set and hold the standard for correctness in flows that touch money — idempotency, reconciliation, partial failure, audit

Delivery

- Break down product requirements into technical work and sequence it
- Estimate honestly, flag risk early, and be accountable for delivery dates




- Run code review; be the last line of defence before production
- Own release quality — testing strategy, staging validation, rollback plans

Team

- Lead a small team of 3–6 engineers day to day: assign work, unblock, review, mentor
- Interview and help hire; you will shape who joins
- Raise the level of engineers around you — pairing, design reviews, written feedback
- Represent engineering in product and customer conversations when needed

Customer-facing

- Join calls with enterprise customers to scope integrations and resolve technical escalations
- Support security reviews and technical due diligence with written responses you can defend

RequirementsEssential

- 6–9 years building production software, with meaningful depth on both frontend and backend
- Solid React with TypeScript, and strong Java with Spring Boot
- Deep PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing, query tuning, transactions, isolation levels, migrations at scale
- Experience owning a service or product area end to end, including in production
- Track record of leading engineers, even informally — mentoring, reviewing, setting direction
- Experience designing for failure: retries, idempotency, partial failure, reconciliation
- Strong written communication; you will write specs, design docs and customer-facing responses

Strongly preferred

- Multi-tenant SaaS experience, particularly with hard isolation requirements
- Integration experience with banks, ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Tally)



or payment systems
- Experience with data-dense enterprise UI — large tables, drill-downs, real-time streaming updates
- Working knowledge of Python; our agent engine is FastAPI and you will read and occasionally write across that boundary
- Docker, GitHub Actions, Azure or AWS deployment
- OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, or equivalent observability practice

Nice to have

- Hands-on work with LLM APIs, RAG, agent frameworks or the Model Context Protocol
- Experience in a regulated or audited environment (ISO 27001, SOC 2)
- Prior early-stage startup experience, at a stage where you built rather than maintained

Who This SuitsSomeone senior enough to make the call and hands-on enough to implement it. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, uninterested in building process for its own sake, and unwilling to ship something you cannot explain. If your instinct on being handed a legacy system is to understand it before rewriting it, you will do well here. This is not a pure people-management role. If you have been out of the codebase for two years, this will not suit you.
