Senior CAD Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior CAD Engineer with 4 to 5 years of experience specializing in sheet metal cabinet design. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming concepts into highly accurate 3D models and manufacturing-ready 2D drawings. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (bending, welding, punching) and is highly proficient in industry-standard design software.

Key Responsibilities

· 3D Modeling & Design: Create robust 3D models of sheet metal cabinets, enclosures, and structural assemblies using Solid Edge and SolidWorks.

· 2D Drafting & Flat Patterns: Generate detailed production drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;), and accurate flat pattern layouts for CNC laser cutting and punching.

· Manufacturing Optimization: Design with sheet metal constraints in mind (bend deductions, material thickness, k-factors) to ensure cost-effective and defect-free production.

· Graphic Integration: Utilize CorelDraw to design overlays, silk-screening layouts, branding elements,



and labels for the cabinets.

· Collaboration: Work closely with the manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve any production-line design issues.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Experience: 4 to 5 years of proven experience in sheet metal design, specifically with enclosures or cabinets.

· Software Expertise:

· Solid Edge & SolidWorks: Advanced proficiency in 3D sheet metal modules, assembly design, and detailing.

· AutoCAD: Solid command over 2D drafting, structural layouts, and legacy data conversion.

· CorelDraw: Intermediate to advanced skills for vector artwork, labeling, and aesthetic cabinet layouts.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, welding symbols, and enclosure standards (e.g., IP ratings, NEMA standards if applicable).

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent technical certification.
