Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Resident Doctor role based at NIL RATAN SIRCAR MEDICAL COLLEGE in Kolkata.

The Resident

Doctor will provide direct patient care, including history taking, clinical examination, ordering and interpreting investigations, and assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities include drafting clinical notes, preparing discharge summaries, monitoring patients in wards and emergency areas, and responding to clinical calls under the supervision of senior medical staff. The role involves participating in clinical rounds, implementing treatment plans, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and infection control practices, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Doctor is also expected to engage in academic activities such as case presentations, clinical meetings, and continuous medical education sessions.

Qualifications

- Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution and valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Foundational clinical skills in history taking, physical examination, diagnosis, and management of common medical and surgical conditions.
- Ability to interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and other diagnostic reports accurately and promptly.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, adherence to clinical protocols, and infection prevention and control standards.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, nursing staff, and senior clinicians in a transparent, respectful manner.
- Capacity to work in a high-volume hospital environment, manage time efficiently, and prioritize patient care needs.
- Willingness to participate in night duties, weekend shifts, emergency coverage, and multidisciplinary clinical rounds as required.
- Demonstrated interest in continuous learning, attending academic sessions, and staying updated with current medical guidelines.
- Professionalism, ethical conduct, and sensitivity to diverse patient backgrounds and needs.
- Prior internship or residency experience in a teaching hospital setting is an advantage.
