Job Title : Quality Management System (QMS) Engineer

Department : Quality Assurance

Reports To : Quality Manager / Head – Quality

Job Summary The QMS Engineer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continually improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. The role ensures that all quality system processes, documentation, audits, corrective actions, and customer requirements are effectively implemented and maintained across washer manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Quality Management System

· Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.

· Ensure all departments follow documented procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.

· Monitor compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSR).

· Control and maintain the Quality Manual, procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and formats.

· Ensure effective document and record control.

· Audit Management

· Plan and conduct Internal Quality Audits.

· Coordinate external certification, surveillance, customer, and supplier audits.

· Track audit findings and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.

· Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

· Support Layered Process Audits (LPA), Product Audits, and Process Audits.

Documentation Control

· Prepare, review, approve, and distribute controlled documents.

· Maintain revision history and document master lists.

· Ensure obsolete documents are removed from points of use.

· Maintain records as per document retention requirements.

· Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA)





· Coordinate root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and 8D methodology.

· Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

· Verify effectiveness of actions before closure.

· Analyze recurring issues and drive systemic improvements.

· Customer & Supplier Quality Support

· Support customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.

· Monitor supplier quality performance and support supplier audits.

· Coordinate customer-specific quality documentation.

· Participate in new product development (APQP/PPAP) documentation activities.

· Process Improvement

· Monitor quality KPIs and prepare monthly quality reports.

· Facilitate Management Review Meetings (MRM).

· Promote continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma tools.

· Support risk management activities using PFMEA and Process Risk Analysis.

· Training & Compliance

· Conduct QMS awareness and quality system training.

· Ensure employees are trained on updated procedures and quality requirements.

· Monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Skills Required

· Solid knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.

· Understanding of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.

· Experience in internal auditing and audit management.





· Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.

· Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.

· Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ERP/SAP knowledge is an advantage.

Qualification

· Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Quality Engineering.

· Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification for ISO 9001/IATF 16949 is preferred.

Experience

· 2–4 years: QMS Engineer

· 5–8 years: Senior QMS Engineer

· 8+ years: QMS Manager / Quality Systems Manager

Working Conditions

· Based in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction across Production, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores, and Engineering departments.

· Occasional travel for supplier visits, customer audits, or certification audits may be required.
