Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation Framework & Architecture

- Establish the automation testing framework and structure from the ground up.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate automation tools and technologies.
- Design a scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation framework.
- Define framework architecture, coding standards, naming conventions, design patterns, and best practices.
- Implement reusable components, utilities, test data management, configuration management, logging, and reporting.
- Continuously evaluate and improve framework performance, stability, and maintainability.

Hands-on Automation Development

- Develop and maintain automation scripts for critical business workflows.
- Automate functional, smoke, sanity, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Personally contribute to framework development and complex automation scenarios.
- Convert high-priority manual test cases into automated tests.
- Identify suitable candidates for automation based on risk, frequency, and business value.
- Debug and resolve automation failures and flaky tests.

Web, Mobile & API Testing Develop and lead automation across:

- Web applications
- Mobile applications
- REST APIs
- Backend services
- Database validations
- End-to-end workflows
- Third-party integration's

Hands-on experience with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent is expected.

API & Database Automation

- Design and implement API automation for REST services.
- Validate request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, business rules, and error scenarios.
- Create automated API integration and end-to-end tests.
- Use SQL for backend data validation.




- Validate consistency between UI, API, and database layers.

CI/CD Integration

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Work with DevOps to establish automated test execution.
- Configure automation for:
- Pull requests/builds
- Deployment validation
- Smoke testing
- Regression testing
- Scheduled execution
- Configure test reports and failure notifications.
- Establish appropriate automated quality gates for releases.

Technical Leadership

- Review automation code and framework implementation.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to automation standards.
- Identify technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Help team members improve their automation and programming skills.
- Guide engineers in writing reusable, stable, and maintainable automation.
- Troubleshoot complex automation, setting, API, and integration issues.
- Act as the technical point of contact for automation-related challenges.

Test Strategy & Coverage

- Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify test scenarios requiring automation.
- Define automation coverage for critical business workflows.
- Establish the right balance between manual and automated testing.
- Identify gaps in regression coverage.
- Continuously improve automation coverage and test effectiveness.
- Ensure critical defects and production scenarios are incorporated into regression automation.

Agile & Development Collaboration

- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and technical discussions.
- Work closely with Developers, Manual QA, Product Managers and DevOps.
- Identify testability issues early in the development lifecycle.
- Ensure automation is considered as part of feature development.
- Support developers and QA engineers in reproducing and troubleshooting defects.

What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate should:

- Be hands-on with automation.
- Have experience building or significantly enhancing an automation framework.
- Be comfortable writing production-quality automation code.
- Have strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Be able to technically guide engineers with 3–5 years of testing experience.
- Understand when to automate and, equally importantly, when not to automate.
- Have a strong understanding of software testing fundamentals.
- Be comfortable working across UI, API, mobile, and backend testing.
- Have a strong quality mindset and attention to detail.
- Be capable of taking ownership of automation initiatives from design through implementation and CI/CD execution.

Good to Have

- Experience establishing automation from scratch.
- Solid experience with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Mobile automation using Appium.
- Performance testing using JMeter or equivalent.
- Docker/containerized testing.
- Cloud testing environments.
- Allure, Extent Reports, or similar reporting frameworks.
- Mocking/stubbing or service virtualization.
- Experience testing payment gateways and third-party integrations.
- Experience with e-commerce, food delivery, logistics, marketplace, or other transactional applications.
