Job Summary

NRC Group of Industries is looking for an experienced and technically strong Proposal & Estimation Engineer to handle costing, estimation, proposal preparation, and pre-sales technical activities for manufacturing and fabrication projects.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with solid knowledge of fabrication, manufacturing processes, material costing, estimation, drawings, and quotation preparation. The candidate should be capable of independently studying customer requirements and preparing accurate and commercially viable proposals.

Key Responsibilities

- Study customer enquiries, RFQs, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for fabrication and manufacturing projects.
- Analyse drawings and determine material, manpower, fabrication, machining, finishing, and other process requirements.
- Prepare accurate material quantity estimates and Bill of Materials (BOM) where required.
- Calculate material, labour, machine, process, overhead, and other applicable costs.
- Coordinate with Sales, Design, Production, Purchase, Quality, and other departments to collect accurate costing inputs.
- Obtain and evaluate material and process cost information from the Purchase and Production teams.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with customer requirements.
- Review customer specifications and identify technical or commercial requirements that may affect costing.
- Support the Sales team with technical information, costing, and proposal preparation during customer discussions.
- Analyse enquiries and determine feasibility, lead time, production requirements, and potential project risks.




- Follow up on submitted quotations and maintain proper records of enquiries and proposals.
- Revise quotations based on customer requirements, negotiations, and changes in scope.
- Maintain a database of historical costing, quotations, material rates, and project information.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or customer requirements.
- Coordinate with customers when clarification is required regarding drawings, specifications, scope, or commercial requirements.
- Prepare regular reports on enquiries, quotations, conversion status, and pending proposals.
- Ensure quotations are prepared accurately and submitted within the required timelines.

Required Knowledge & Skills The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of:

- Fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Sheet metal fabrication and metal fabrication.
- Engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Material selection and material quantity estimation.
- Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Costing and estimation techniques.
- Labour and process costing.
- Welding, cutting, bending, rolling, machining, grinding, finishing, and related fabrication processes.
- Understanding of production processes and manufacturing methods.
- Preparation of technical and commercial quotations.
- MS Excel and other relevant estimation/reporting tools.

Strong analytical, numerical, communication, negotiation, and coordination skills are essential.

Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is preferred.





Candidates with relevant technical education and substantial practical experience in fabrication/manufacturing estimation may also be considered.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Proposal, Estimation, Costing, Tendering, or related functions is required.

Experience in the following industries will be preferred:

- Sheet metal fabrication
- Metal fabrication
- Engineering manufacturing
- Industrial manufacturing
- Structural fabrication
- Pressure vessel / industrial fabrication
- Machine and equipment manufacturing
- Engineering project-based manufacturing

Travel & Driving Requirement The position may involve customer meetings, site visits, vendor interactions, and other business-related visits based on project requirements. Travel will be undertaken as and when required based on business needs and is not expected to be a routine daily activity.

A valid driving licence is mandatory.

Fuel expenses for approved business travel will be reimbursed by the company as per company policy.

Job Location: NRC Group of Industries, SIHS Colony, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Candidates should be willing to work in Coimbatore and travel when required for business or project-related activities.

Accommodation/rooms can be provided upon request, subject to company availability and applicable terms.
