Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Ophthalmologist role based at Mahajan Eye Centre Pitampura. The Ophthalmologist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and provide both medical and surgical treatment as appropriate. Daily responsibilities include evaluating patient histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and optical aids, and performing procedures such as cataract and minor ocular surgeries.
The role also involves counseling patients and families on treatment options, coordinating care with other clinical staff, maintaining accurate medical records, and adhering to clinical protocols and quality standards. The Ophthalmologist is expected to participate in case discussions,
contribute to continuous improvement in clinical practices, and support training and education activities within the centre.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (MD/MS/DNB or equivalent), with valid medical council registration.
- Clinical expertise in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of common and complex ocular conditions, including anterior and posterior segment disorders.
- Proficiency in ophthalmic procedures and surgeries such as cataract surgery and minor ocular interventions, with solid skills in using modern diagnostic equipment (e.g., slit lamp, OCT, perimetry).
- Strong patient communication and counseling skills, with a compassionate, ethical, and non-discriminatory approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, supervise clinical support staff when needed, and contribute to a high-efficiency clinical workflow.
- Commitment to continuing medical education, evidence-based practice, and adherence to clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
- Prior experience in a super-speciality or high-volume eye care center is an advantage; fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., cornea, retina, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology) is a plus.
