Proxima Executive Search has been mandated by a 45+ year-old listed Indian engineering company serving the Defence & Aerospace sector to identify an accomplished engineering leader for the position of Director – Motion Systems & Robotics Engineering, based at Ballabgarh, Haryana.

nThe company is strengthening its technology capabilities and developing a new generation of precision Pan-Tilt Units and stabilised electro-mechanical systems for defence applications. The selected leader will have the prospect to build a world-class Motion Systems capability and create a sustainable technology platform for future defence programmes.

nThe Opportunity
n

nThis is a hands-on technology leadership role for an engineering professional with deep expertise in robotics, precision motion control, servo systems and systems engineering.
n

nThe incumbent will lead the complete development of Pan-Tilt Units and related precision motion systems—from system architecture and controls to electronics, embedded software, sensor integration, validation and product release.

nThe role will also involve building and leading a multidisciplinary engineering team while collaborating closely with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality.

nKey Responsibilities

- n
- Own end-to-end design and development of Pan-Tilt Units and stabilised electro-mechanical systems.n
- Define system architecture, technical documentation, validation and product-release processes.n
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across embedded software, electronics and PCB design.n
- Develop high-performance motor controllers, system controllers and real-time control software.n
- Apply advanced control techniques including PID, LQR, Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Kalman Filtering for precision stabilisation, disturbance rejection and target tracking.n
- Lead integration of IMUs, GNSS, digital compasses, accelerometers, EO payloads, thermal imagers, laser rangefinders,
