Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical SPM (Special Purpose Machine) Design Engineer based in Bangalore(Bommasandra) The Mechanical SPM Design Engineer will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing special purpose assembly and testing machines, preparing detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools, and selecting appropriate mechanical components. Daily tasks include collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements, performing design calculations, and ensuring designs meet functional, safety, and quality standards. The role also involves supporting machine assembly and installation, conducting design reviews and inspections, assisting in troubleshooting during commissioning, and updating documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

The engineer will work closely with production,



maintenance, and quality teams to ensure successful implementation of turnkey automation solutions.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including machine design, mechanics, and materials; bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar) for 3D modelling and 2D drafting of special purpose machines.
- Experience in Inspection and quality checks of mechanical components and assemblies, including dimensional verification and adherence to engineering standards.
- Knowledge of Automotive applications and general industrial automation practices, including assembly and testing processes for engineering products.
- Exposure to Maintenance principles for automated equipment and an understanding of designing for reliability, serviceability, and safety.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, and to prepare clear engineering documentation and BOMs.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams in an on-site workplace.
- Effective communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers; ability to present and justify design decisions.
- Prior experience in SPM design, industrial automation, or turnkey project execution is an advantage.
