Position Name: Managing Editor Journals

Reporting to: Publishing Director of Scientific Scholar

Department: Publishing

Key Responsibilities

Identifying leads to acquire society/university affiliated journals, with the focus of long-term development and progressive revenue generation

Regular follow-up on existing leads for acquisition both via emails as well as via direct communication

Push for timely publication of the existing journal issues with client counterparts like assistant editors, executive editors etc.

Maintain a yearly excel sheet with issue frequency publication and corresponding invoicing to keep up with the yearly revenue target of existing journals meeting 100% of the publication capacity

Work with media partners to ensure timely marketing of the selected content on said social media handles, with effective author and editor engagement

Visit libraries of medical institutes and engage with the concerned librarian for subscription of print version of journals





Interaction with subscription vendors and distributors to promote print library subscriptions at tier B and C medical institutes/libraries

Essential Qualifications

At least 5+ years of experience of direct interaction with editors and society stakeholders of medical societies and associations. This experience is a must require. (We won’t review applications if you don’t have a direct experience of working with journals affiliated to medical societies/associations/institutions)

A basic understanding of business development of STM journals

Masters or higher in Science/Medicine or related discipline

Ease of use of excel sheet and maintenance of financial records

Excellent communication skills

Desired Qualifications

Proven experience of acquisition of any STM journal which exist to publish currently A basic understanding of bibliometric databases and their related advantages/challenges A basic understanding of the double-blinded peer review process A basic understanding of erratum and retractions

Experience in author engagement
