Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IoT Device Testing & Automation Development Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating IoT hardware and firmware, developing robust test automation frameworks, and ensuring the reliability and quality of connected devices.

The role involves hands-on testing of IoT devices, embedded systems, sensors, and gateways, along with automation of device and end-to-end workflows. The candidate should have strong analytical and debugging skills, practical testing experience, and a passion for developing reliable and scalable automation solutions.

Experience with camera and video-based IoT devices is a strong plus, while exposure to API testing and mobile application automation will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

IoT Device Testing

- Perform functional, regression, performance, stability, reliability, and interoperability testing of IoT devices, embedded systems, sensors, and gateways.
- Validate device functionality across different hardware and firmware configurations.
- Validate device connectivity and communication using protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, Thread, MQTT, and other relevant IoT protocols.
- Execute positive, negative, boundary, stress, and long-duration reliability test scenarios.
- Perform end-to-end testing involving hardware, firmware, APIs, and mobile applications.
- Analyze device logs and system behavior to identify failures and assist with root-cause analysis.
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Work closely with firmware, hardware, mobile application, and automation teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Test Automation Development

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for IoT devices and connected applications.
- Develop automation scripts using Python and frameworks/tools such as PyTest and Robot Framework.




- Automate device setup, configuration, functional, connectivity, regression, and firmware validation workflows.
- Develop automated tests for end-to-end IoT use cases.
- Create utilities for device control, log collection, log parsing, test orchestration, monitoring, and result analysis.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD environments using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Continuously improve automation frameworks for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

API & Mobile Application Testing

- Perform API testing for IoT device and application interfaces.
- Develop automated API test cases and validate request/response behavior, authentication, error handling, and boundary conditions.
- Test mobile applications used to configure, control, and monitor IoT devices.
- Develop mobile application automation using Appium or similar frameworks.
- Validate end-to-end workflows across mobile application → API → IoT device → response/status.

Test Planning & Documentation

- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and automation strategies.
- Define test coverage requirements and device acceptance criteria.
- Prepare test execution reports and automation results.
- Maintain test documentation, automation guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Contribute to improving testing methodologies, tools, and overall product quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–8+ years of experience in IoT device testing, embedded testing, automation development,



or a related domain.
- Strong hands-on experience in Python-based test automation.
- Good understanding of IoT devices, embedded systems, firmware, sensors, and device communication.
- Experience testing hardware and software together and debugging issues across device/firmware boundaries.
- Understanding of communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, BLE, MQTT, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD systems.
- Good working knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
- Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience testing cameras, IP cameras, security cameras, video streaming, or other camera-enabled IoT devices is a big plus.
- Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, REST clients, or Python-based frameworks.
- Experience with mobile application automation testing, preferably using Appium for Android/iOS.
- Experience with PyTest, Robot Framework, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or device-in-the-loop testing.
- Experience with UART/I2C/SPI debugging and tools such as logic analyzers or oscilloscopes.
- Experience with performance, stress, stability, and long-duration reliability testing.
- Familiarity with firmware upgrade/OTA testing and device provisioning.
- Experience developing test utilities and tools for hardware/device automation.
- Knowledge of Docker or container-based test environments is an advantage.
