About the Council The Council of Independent Directors (CID) is a non-profit qualified association working towards strengthening the profession of Independent Directorship, protecting the legitimate interests and rights of Independent Directors, promoting high standards of corporate governance, and supporting reforms that contribute to stronger and more accountable corporate institutions in India.

CID also undertakes professional development, awareness, research, advocacy, governance initiatives and other non-profit activities for the benefit of Independent Directors and the broader corporate governance ecosystem.

Opportunity The Council of Independent Directors is inviting Independent Directors, aspiring Independent Directors and experienced corporate governance professionals to become members and contribute to the organisation's non-profit initiatives.

This is a voluntary, non-remunerated association role . No salary, employment compensation or fixed remuneration will be paid for this position.

Members will have an opportunity to participate in professional discussions, governance initiatives, research, awareness programmes, policy and regulatory discussions, professional development activities and other initiatives undertaken by the Council.

Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

- Should have at least 10 years of professional experience , preferably with substantial exposure to corporate governance, board practices, compliance, business leadership or Independent Directorship.
- Should have completed an Independent Director certification/examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) , IIM Bangalore, or another recognised/certifying authority applicable to Independent Directors.
- Should either be:




- An aspiring Independent Director with relevant professional experience; or
- An individual already registered/onboarded as an Independent Director or serving/eligible to serve on corporate boards.
- Should demonstrate a genuine interest in corporate governance, board effectiveness, ethical leadership, transparency and institutional reforms .
- Should be willing to contribute time, knowledge, professional experience and ideas towards the Council's objectives.
- Applicants should uphold high standards of professional integrity, independence, confidentiality and ethical conduct .

Important Note This is not a salaried employment position.

The position is offered as a voluntary membership/association opportunity within the Council of Independent Directors. Members are expected to contribute voluntarily towards the Council's professional, governance and non-profit objectives.
