In-Country University Representative

Independent Contractor Role

Overview The In-Country University Representative serves as the primary on-the-ground presence for a university within an assigned international region. This independent contractor role is responsible for driving student recruitment, building strategic partnerships, and supporting prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

- Represent the university at recruitment events, including school visits, education fairs, information sessions, and webinars throughout the assigned region.
- Build and maintain relationships with secondary schools, counselors, recruitment agents, alumni, and other regional stakeholders to raise institutional awareness and support enrollment goals.
- Conduct presentations, counseling sessions, and workshops for prospective students and their families regarding academic programs, admissions requirements, scholarships, and application procedures.
- Manage prospective student inquiries and provide individualized guidance throughout the recruitment and enrollment cycle, from initial contact through pre-departure.
- Support admitted students through post-admission processes, including deposit submission, visa preparation, and pre-departure orientation.
- Develop and implement localized marketing, social media,



and brand promotion strategies; utilize regionally relevant platforms to engage students, families, counselors, and partners.
- Manage relationships with recruitment agencies and institutional partners, provide training and support, monitor partner performance, and identify opportunities for recent collaborations.
- Monitor regional market trends, competitor activity, and visa/immigration developments; maintain accurate records within the university's CRM system and report on recruitment funnel metrics.
- Support visits by university leadership, faculty, and staff traveling within the region by coordinating logistics, scheduling meetings, and providing local expertise and cultural guidance.
- Serve as a professional ambassador of the university, upholding its mission, values, and commitment to ethical international recruitment practices.

Qualifications

Required:

- Must be authorized to live and work in the assigned country/region.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Minimum of three years of experience in international student recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the local and regional education system and international student recruitment landscape.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in a relevant regional language is required.
- Proven ability to present to diverse audiences and cultivate relationships with students, families, schools, counselors, and external partners.
- Knowledge of international student visa procedures and higher education admissions processes.
- Experience managing recruitment agents or institutional partnerships.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region and work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a geographically distributed university team.

Preferred:

- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience reviewing university applications and/or rendering admissions decisions.
- Experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Slate).
