Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Artwork and Graphic Design

- Create and develop packaging designs as per customer requirements and brand guidelines.
- Prepare artwork for metal packaging products, including cans, containers, lids, closures and other metal components.
- Develop layouts considering the shape, size and printing area of the metal packaging product.
- Modify existing artwork based on customer feedback and production requirements.
- Ensure proper placement of logos, text, images, barcodes, symbols and mandatory declarations.

1. Offset Printing and Pre-Press

- Prepare accurate print-ready artwork for offset metal printing.
- Ensure correct use of CMYK, Pantone/spot colours and colour separation.
- Check and apply technical requirements such as:
- Bleed
- Trapping
- Overprinting
- Knockout
- Colour registration
- Resolution
- Fonts and image links
- Prepare files suitable for CTP (Computer-to-Plate) and plate-making processes.
- Coordinate with the pre-press team for artwork correction and final output.

1. Metal Packaging Technical Requirements

- Understand the limitations and requirements of printing on metal sheets.
- Consider metal substrate, coating, varnish and ink compatibility while preparing artwork.
- Ensure artwork is suitable for subsequent processes such as:
- Metal printing
- Coating and varnishing
- Curing/baking
- Slitting
- Cutting
- Stamping
- Forming
- Welding/Seaming, where applicable
- Prepare artwork according to approved die-lines, cutting layouts and product dimensions.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure the design can be practically manufactured.

Colour Management and Quality Control

- Ensure colour accuracy as per approved customer artwork and colour standards.
- Coordinate with the printing and QC teams during colour approval and production trials.
- Review printed samples and identify deviations between approved artwork and printed output.
- Support troubleshooting related to colour variation, registration and artwork-related printing issues.

1. Customer Artwork and Approval

- Review customer-supplied artwork for technical feasibility before production.
- Identify missing information, incorrect specifications or potential printing issues.
- Prepare proofs and artwork samples for internal and customer approval.
- Maintain records of approved artwork, revisions and customer specifications.
- Ensure only the latest approved artwork is released for production.

1. Coordination and Documentation

- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality Assurance, QC and Planning departments.
- Maintain proper artwork version control and file management.
- Ensure confidentiality and protection of customer artwork and designs.
- Support continuous improvement in design and pre-press processes.

Required Technical Skills




- Strong hands-on experience in offset printing for metal packaging.
- Valuable knowledge of metal decorating / metal printing processes.
- Proficiency in:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe InDesign
- CorelDRAW (preferred)
- Knowledge of:
- CMYK and Pantone colours
- Colour separation
- Trapping and overprinting
- Colour registration
- Print resolution
- CTP and plate-making
- Die-lines and packaging layouts
- Understanding of inks, coatings and varnishes used in metal packaging is preferred.

Educational Qualification Diploma / Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, or related field.

Experience

3–7 years of experience in graphic design and pre-press activities.

Preferred: Experience in metal packaging, metal decorating, tin printing, can manufacturing, closures, containers, or offset sheet-fed printing.
