Role Description The GIS Editor internship role at APEPDCL is an in office position based in Visakhapatnam. Interns will support the creation, updating, and maintenance of geospatial data related to the power distribution network, including substations, feeders, and transformers. Typical tasks include digitizing network assets, performing spatial data corrections, validating field data, and ensuring that maps and layers meet accuracy and formatting standards.

The role involves working with GIS software to analyze and visualize distribution infrastructure, preparing basic maps and reports for internal teams,



and assisting with data quality checks and documentation. Interns will collaborate with engineering and operations staff, follow established mapping guidelines, and contribute to improving data consistency and reliability across the GIS system.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including experience with common GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and basic cartographic principles.
- Ability to perform data entry, digitization, and spatial editing tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of basic electrical or civil infrastructure concepts, preferably related to utility networks or power distribution (coursework or project experience is acceptable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret maps, technical drawings, and tabular data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical team members.
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree or diploma in Geography, Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Proficiency in standard office productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, presentations) for reporting and documentation.
- Willingness to work on-site in Visakhapatnam and adhere to organizational safety, security, and data-handling guidelines.
