Lead (Dehradun)

Location: Dehradun

Duration: 3 Months (Full-Time) with a potential to convert full time

Commitment: 6 days/week (on-ground role)

About the Role

This is an opportunity to move beyond discussions and contribute to real, on-ground change in how waste is managed in Dehradun. We are looking for a Field Lead who will play a key role in shaping how this pilot evolves through continuous on-ground engagement, observation, and reflection. This person will help us understand what is working, what is not, and what needs to change.

What This Role Involves a. Working closely with communities and waste systems on the ground b. Observing patterns in behaviour, participation, and operations c. Identifying gaps and opportunities in real-time d. Sharing inputs that shape strategy, not just executing tasks

Key Responsibilities

- Community Engagement & Mobilization a. Engage with RWAs, households, and commercial establishments b. Conduct awareness and mobilization efforts c. Build relationships and trust within communities d. Identify and support community champions
- On-Ground System Understandinga. Work alongside waste collection systems (Swachchata Express)

b. Observe participation patterns and operational challenges c. Understand how systems function in reality
- Insight Generation a. Reflect on what is working and what is not b. Identify patterns and reasons behind them c. Share actionable suggestions with the team




- Field Research a. Conduct deep engagement in one selected ward b. Interact with waste workers, scrap dealers, residents, and local actors c. Understand system gaps and waste flows
- Documentation & Storytelling a. Capture photos, videos, audio, and written observations b. Document community experiences and behaviour change journeys
- Coordination & Reporting a. Maintain regular updates on activities and learnings b. Work with Kinvana, Waste Warriors, and Manish c. Support basic tracking of participation

Who We Are Looking For

Essential Qualities

- Familiarity with Dehradun’s local context, neighbourhoods, and communities will be important for this role
- Access to a two-wheeler for local travel (fuel costs will be reimbursed)
- Comfortable working on the ground and around waste environments
- Robust communication and listening skills
- Curious, observant, and proactive
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Reliable and consistent

Compensation

- Monthly income: ₹20,000
- Completion bonus: ₹10,000
