Role Overview

The Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for development and integration of low-level software components for BMW automotive ECUs. The engineer will work closely with hardware design teams and contribute to board bring-up, driver development, RTOS integration, and ECU software integration.

Key Responsibilities

Embedded Platform Development
Perform microcontroller and board bring-up activities.
Develop and integrate: MCAL Drivers, ECAL Components, HAL Drivers, Device Drivers, Bootloaders
Develop startup software and platform initialization logic.
Configure interrupt and memory management frameworks.

ECU Software Integration
Integrate software on current hardware platforms.
Support RTOS integration activities.
Perform software and hardware debugging.
Support communication stack integration.

Driver Development
Develop and maintain drivers for: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO, DMA, etc.

Development Automation
Contribute to build automation infrastructure.
Develop and maintain build scripts and CI/CD solutions.
Support software configuration and release management.





Quality & Compliance
Create design documentation.
Participate in software reviews.
Support ASPICE and Functional Safety activities.
Support cybersecurity implementation requirements.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related disciplines.
5–10 years of embedded software development experience.
Solid experience in: Embedded C, BSP Development, Board Bring-up, MCAL/HAL Development, ECU Integration, RTOS, Bootloader Development
Positive to have: C++, Python
Experience with: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART
Experience with automotive microcontrollers (at least one): Infineon AURIX, NXP S32, Renesas RH850, ST Microcontrollers
Working knowledge of: Linker Scripts, Memory Mapping, Startup Code, Build Systems, Debuggers, Git
Knowledge of Agile Scrum/Kanban
