Evoxia is a clean-tech materials company focused on securing India’s strategic raw materials supply chain through pioneering, first-of-its-kind processes. The organization is developing technology that addresses a multi-billion-dollar national strategic gap in collaboration with international researchers and advisors. Evoxia is incubated and supported by leading innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, including PIEDS BITS Pilani, AIC ISB Mohali, Deshpande Startups, IKP Knowledge Park, AWaDH IIT Ropar-TIF, and HDFC Bank ArthX.
The founding team has received recognition from Forbes India’s Top 100 Startups to Watch Out For 2025 and other national programs such as Leap To Unicorn, Quest for Clean Air, Future Stars U25, and the EO Global Student Entrepreneur Award. Applicants will join a mission-driven startup setting that values scientific rigor, innovation, and impact at scale.
At Evoxia, we are reshaping the environmental footprint and supply chain security of the solar sector. We bypass carbon-heavy legacy smelting to manufacture ultra-high-purity solar silicon.
We are looking for a highly specialized Experimental Plasma Scientist to own the physical deployment, configuration, and optimization of our high-temperature thermal plasma systems. This role requires a hands-on builder who moves seamlessly from first-principles plasma physics to physical hardware execution, component specification, and reactor troubleshooting under extreme hydrogen atmospheres.
What You Will Do
- Equipment Specification & Selection: Lead the technical definition and component sourcing for our complete plasma subsystem—including DC/RF power supplies, thermal plasma torches, mass flow controllers, gas-mixing manifolds, and vacuum interfaces.
- System Integration & Configuration: Design, assemble, and configure the physical interfaces between power sources, working gas lines,
and the high-temperature reaction chamber to optimize energy transfer efficiency.
- Hydrogen Ratio Optimization: Own the experimental roadmap to safely scale plasma gas compositions to high-concentration and pure hydrogen processing atmospheres, managing the severe thermal loads and voltage shifts associated with molecular gas dissociation.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Deploy and interpret real-time process diagnostics (e.g., Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), enthalpy probes, and thermal imaging) to systematically resolve arc instabilities, jet fluctuations, and premature electrode degradation.
- Safety Engineering: Implement fail-safe gas handling controls, nitrogen-purging loops, and automated isolation valves for high-volume hydrogen operations.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: Ph.D. in Plasma Physics with a dedicated, verifiable track record of hands-on experimental research or industrial operations.
- Experimental Expertise: Extensive laboratory experience directly building, modifying, operating, and troubleshooting physical thermal plasma systems and reactors.
- Hardware Competency: Deep practical understanding of torch cathode/anode erosion mechanics, arc-root behaviors, and matching power supply impedance to dynamic plasma loads.
- Hydrogen Gas Handling: Direct experience managing high-temperature reducing or flammable gases, with an acute understanding of how hydrogen's high thermal conductivity alters arc voltage characteristics.
Why Join Evoxia?
- Complete System Ownership: You will spec, configure, and optimize the core plasma architecture of our scaling pilot from the ground up.
- Institutional Momentum: Work with an agile team backed by premier deep-tech and clean-tech validation.
- Hardcore Climate Impact: Your physical engineering outputs directly translate to removing megatons of industrial CO2 and building clean energy sovereignty.
- Competitive Salaries and ESOPs
