About the role The Associate Consultant – EHS & ESG will support the delivery of consulting, auditing, training, and implementation projects across Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems and sustainability services. The role will primarily focus on ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, while also supporting projects related to ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, ESG reporting, GHG inventory, carbon management, sustainability assessments, and responsible business practices.
This role involves working closely with senior consultants and company directors to deliver client assignments across sectors such as automobile, general manufacturing, healthcare, education, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, services, and other industrial sectors. The position requires strong technical understanding, client coordination, documentation skills, and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
The role is suitable for a professional who wants to build a consulting career at the intersection of EHS compliance, management systems, sustainability, ESG, and operational improvement.
Preferred Locations: Pune, Nashik, Mumbai and surrounding areas
Key Responsibilities
1. EHS Management System Consulting
● Support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 management systems for clients across different sectors.
● Assist in preparing and updating EHS documentation, including manuals, procedures, policies, SOPs, formats, registers, and operational control documents.
● Support activities related to context analysis, interested party analysis, risk and prospect assessment, environmental aspect-impact analysis, hazard identification and risk assessment, legal compliance evaluation, objectives, and action plans.
● Assist clients in preparing for certification, surveillance, and recertification audits.
● Provide guidance for closure of non-conformities, audit observations, and improvement actions.
● Support internal audits, compliance reviews,
and gap assessments related to EHS management systems.
2. ESG/Sustainability Consulting
● Support sustainability and ESG-related assignments, including ESG gap assessments, sustainability roadmaps, and performance improvement initiatives.
● Assist in ESG reporting projects aligned with frameworks such as BRSR, GRI, EcoVadis, CDP, and customer sustainability requirements.
● Support preparation of sustainability policies, ESG procedures, supplier codes of conduct, and responsible business practices documentation.
● Assist in data collection and basic analysis related to GHG emissions (Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3), energy, water, waste, and other sustainability indicators.
● Support projects related to carbon footprinting, energy management, renewable energy tracking, and sustainability compliance requirements.
● Develop a basic understanding across sustainability domains including environment, labour practices, human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
3. Training and Capacity Building
● Develop training materials, presentations, handouts, and awareness content for EHS and sustainability topics.
● Support delivery of training programs on ISO standards, EHS awareness, internal auditing, ESG awareness, GHG accounting, and related topics.
● Assist senior consultants during client workshops, trainings, kick-off meetings, and review meetings.
● Prepare training attendance records, feedback summaries, certificates, and post-training reports.
4. Client Coordination and Project Execution
● Serve as a day-to-day coordination point for assigned client activities under the guidance of senior consultants.
● Support project planning, scheduling, documentation follow-up, audit coordination, and closure tracking.
● Communicate professionally with clients to collect data, clarify requirements, schedule meetings, and track project deliverables.
● Ensure project execution is timely, organized, and aligned with agreed scope and client expectations.
● Maintain updated project trackers, client records, databases, and assignment status reports.
5. Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Building
● Keep updated with developments in ISO standards, EHS regulations, ESG frameworks, GHG accounting, sustainability reporting, and industry best practices.
● Contribute to improving internal templates, audit tools, training modules, checklists, and project delivery methods.
● Support the development of new service offerings related to EHS, ESG, sustainability, carbon management, responsible sourcing, and compliance.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Sustainability or a related field.
● Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, EHS, Energy, or Management is preferred.
● 2–3 years of prior work experience in EHS, sustainability, management systems, auditing, consulting, compliance, or related areas.
● Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
● Basic understanding of EHS legal requirements, risk assessments, environmental aspects, operational controls, and compliance documentation.
● Basic understanding of sustainability concepts including ESG, GHG emissions, and sustainability reporting.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Good command over English and ability to prepare professional documents, reports, presentations, and client communication.
● Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
● Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work with structured documentation.
● Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and willing to learn.
● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with senior consultants and client teams.
● Willingness to travel up to 40% for audits, trainings, implementation support, and client meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
● Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, or related standards.
● Experience as a Management Representative, EHS Coordinator, Sustainability Coordinator, Systems Coordinator, or Internal Auditor.
● Experience in conducting EHS risk assessments, environmental aspect-impact assessments, legal compliance audits, or internal audits.
● Knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.
● Basic understanding of GHG accounting, carbon footprinting, Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3 emissions, ISO 14064-1, and GHG Protocol.
● Exposure to ESG reporting or sustainability frameworks such as BRSR, GRI, EcoVadis, CDP, supplier ESG assessments, or customer sustainability questionnaires.
● Understanding of sustainability themes such as waste management, water management, energy efficiency, renewable energy, responsible sourcing, human rights, labour practices, business ethics, and sustainable procurement.
