Role Overview
Pathlock is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our DevOps team. This role combines people leadership, operational excellence, and technical stewardship for a multi-tenant SaaS platform running across Azure and AWS globally. You will lead a globally distributed team of DevOps engineers and platform automation specialists responsible for reliability, performance, security, cost optimization, and delivery execution.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform leader with a strong DevOps background who can build high-performing teams, drive operational rigor, lead through production incidents, and scale both people and systems through automation and AI-enabled engineering practices.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and grow a distributed team of 10 engineers across India, Israel, and Brazil.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, career development planning, and succession planning for team members.
- Own the reliability, availability, performance, security posture, and operational health of a multi-region, multi-tenant SaaS platform running on Azure and AWS.
- Define, measure, and continuously improve service-level objectives (SLOs), service-level indicators (SLIs), and operational KPIs.
- Maintain clear visibility into team execution, operational risks, and delivery commitments, using data, metrics, and artifacts to drive accountability and decision-making.
- Personally lead and coordinate P1 and P2 production incidents, ensuring timely resolution, clear stakeholder communication, and strong operational discipline.
- Ensure customer-grade root cause analyses (RCAs) are delivered on schedule, with corrective and preventive actions tracked through completion.
- Drive proactive monitoring, alerting, observability, and platform health initiatives using Grafana Cloud and modern cloud-native tooling.
- Partner closely with Product, Security, Engineering, Customer Success,
and Support teams to align platform priorities with business objectives.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure and platform operations across Kubernetes, databases, networking, automation, and deployment systems.
- Drive GitOps and infrastructure-as-code practices using ArgoCD, Helm, Bicep, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and related automation technologies.
- Foster a strong culture of documentation, operational readiness, runbooks, postmortems, and continuous improvement.
- Champion engineering excellence through automation, reliability engineering practices, security-by-default principles, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Establish clear accountability, visibility, and execution discipline across the team while maintaining a high bar for operational ownership and customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure teams of 5 or more engineers in multiple geographies.
- Proven success operating within globally distributed engineering organizations spanning multiple time zones and cultures, with a track record of partnering effectively with leadership teams across North America, Israel, and India.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as a bridge between globally distributed teams, translating business priorities into clear technical execution and ensuring alignment across regions and functions.
- Track record of building high-trust, high-accountability engineering cultures that emphasize ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and operational topics clearly to engineers, executives, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Solid hands-on technical background in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure prior to moving into management.
- Experience carrying production on-call responsibilities and operating mission-critical systems in a 24×7 environment.
- Proven experience running large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms, preferably across multiple regions and cloud providers.
- Proven track record of leading organizational change by embedding AI-assisted workflows into engineering, operations, incident management, documentation, and software delivery processes, resulting in measurable improvements in productivity, quality, operational efficiency, and delivery outcomes.
- Deep expertise with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
- Strong Kubernetes experience, including AKS or EKS, containerized workloads, and production operations.
- Experience with Helm, GitOps workflows, ArgoCD, or equivalent deployment automation platforms.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM, or similar tools, with solid emphasis on reproducibility and version control.
- Strong observability expertise using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent monitoring and telemetry platforms.
- Experience operating and supporting relational databases (MSSQL) at scale, running on RDS and Azure Elastic Pool.
- Deep understanding of incident management, escalation processes, operational readiness, and customer-facing RCA practices.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain visibility into team priorities, execution progress, and operational risks.
- Evidence-based decision maker who uses metrics, artifacts, and operational data to guide priorities and communicate status.
- Outcome-focused leader who balances delivery velocity with reliability, stability, and customer experience.
- Direct and effective communicator who can collaborate comfortably with senior leaders, engineers, and customer-facing stakeholders.
- Strong sense of ownership and a bias for action during high-pressure operational events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing Windows-based containerized applications.
- Experience building internal developer platforms, self-service infrastructure, or platform engineering capabilities
- Experience scaling engineering organizations through process automation, AI-assisted tooling, and operational excellence programs
- Familiarity with cloud security frameworks, compliance requirements, and enterprise security best practices
