About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Linux BSP Engineer to drive end-to-end BSP development and hardware enablement on ARM Cortex-A based SoCs. You will work across bootloader, Linux kernel, device drivers, camera/multimedia subsystems, hardware acceleration, and embedded Linux build systems to develop stable, scalable, and production-ready platforms.
What You’ll Work On:
● End-to-end board bring-up and BSP development on custom ARM-based hardware, including U-Boot customization, Linux kernel porting, Device Tree development, peripheral enablement, and BSP maintenance using Yocto / Buildroot.
● Linux kernel driver development and integration for common peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, GPIO, Ethernet, and high-speed interfaces including PCIe and MIPI CSI/DSI.
● Enablement and integration of SoC hardware acceleration blocks such as VPU, ISP, NPU, and crypto accelerators, including kernel, firmware, and userspace integration.
● System-level debugging, profiling, and performance optimization across the bootloader, kernel, drivers, multimedia stack, and userspace applications.
● Debugging hardware/software integration issues using kernel logs, sysfs/debugfs, V4L2/media tools, GDB, tracing and profiling tools.
● Collaboration with hardware teams for schematic review, datasheet/reference-manual analysis, register-level debugging, interface validation, and board bring-up.
● Development and maintenance of production-ready Embedded Linux platforms, including hardware validation, system configuration, security hardening, and support for multiple product variants.
What We’re Looking For:
● 1–5 years of hands-on experience in Embedded Linux BSP, board bring-up, kernel, or device-driver development.
● Strong proficiency in C/C++ with a positive understanding of Linux kernel architecture, driver models,
kernel subsystems, and kernel/userspace interfaces.
● Proven experience building and maintaining Yocto / Buildroot-based BSPs, including custom layers, recipes, kernel configuration, Device Tree modifications, package integration, and custom Linux image generation.
● Experience with Linux kernel configuration, compilation, patching, debugging, and driver integration.
● Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-A based SoCs and board-level hardware bring-up.
● Ability to read and interpret schematics, SoC reference manuals, and component datasheets, and perform register-level debugging.
● Good understanding of Linux device tree, kernel logs, sysfs/debugfs, and system-level debugging methodologies.
● Ability to work closely with hardware, firmware, application, and validation teams to identify and resolve system-level issues.
Good to Have:
● Experience with GStreamer and Linux multimedia frameworks, including V4L2 integration and hardware-accelerated H.264/H.265 encode/decode.
● Experience with camera sensor bring-up, MIPI CSI-2, V4L2, Media Controller framework, sensor drivers, and camera Device Tree configuration.
● Exposure to ISP architecture, ISP bring-up and tuning, sensor-to-ISP integration, RAW Bayer processing, image-quality validation, and AE/AWB/AF (3A) concepts.
● Experience debugging camera pipelines using v4l2-ctl, media-ctl, GStreamer debugging tools, kernel logs, and media-controller graphs.
● Understanding of camera timing, CSI-2 bandwidth, pixel formats, frame rates, buffer management, frame synchronization, and dropped-frame analysis.
● Experience with multimedia performance profiling, including latency, throughput, CPU/memory utilization, buffer handling, zero-copy pipelines, and frame-drop analysis.
● Familiarity with MAVLink, UAV/drone systems, telemetry, or Ground Control Station integration is an added advantage.
