Electrical Engineer Greenfield Project

Job Purpose / Summary The electrical engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, execution, and commissioning of all electrical systems for the Greenfield project. The role requires hands-on experience in setting up electrical infrastructure for a manufacturing facility, preferably within a medical equipment / regulated manufacturing environment, and will involve close coordination with project management, vendors, contractors, and statutory authorities to ensure timely and compliant execution of the electrical scope of work.
Job Responsibilities / Duties
- Plan, design, and execute the complete electrical infrastructure for the Greenfield facility, including HT/LT power distribution, transformers, DG sets, panels, cabling, and earthing systems.
- Prepare and review electrical layouts, single line diagrams (SLDs), load calculations, and cable schedules in coordination with consultants and design teams.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and OEMs for procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure electrical design and installation comply with statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements applicable to medical equipment manufacturing facilities (including UPS/backup power for critical equipment and validated utility systems).
- Plan and implement power backup systems (DG, UPS)
to ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical production and quality-control equipment.
- Performed FAT, SAT, and on-site commissioning of control panels & transformer.
- BMS (Building management system) erection & commissioning + control & monitoring through SCADA.
- Knowledge of automation of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems will be an added advantage.
- Coordinate with statutory bodies for approvals, inspections, and liaising work related to electrical installations (e.g., Electrical Inspectorate, State Electricity Board).
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality of electrical works; track progress against the project schedule and report deviations.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of production machinery and utility equipment from an electrical standpoint.
- Prepare and maintain documentation including electrical drawings, test certificates, equipment manuals, and as-built records.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems post-commissioning.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, HVAC, Quality, Production, EHS) to ensure integrated project execution.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices during installation and commissioning activities on site.
Educational Qualification & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering (a diploma with relevant experience may also be considered).
- 05 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with proven exposure to Greenfield / plant setup projects.
- Prior experience in a medical equipment manufacturing company or other regulated manufacturing environment (pharma, healthcare, or similar) is highly preferred.
- Experience in handling electrical systems for utilities and critical power backup will be an added advantage.
Skills & Technical Knowledge Required
- Sound knowledge of electrical design, HT/LT distribution systems, DG sets, UPS, and panel systems.
- Proficiency in relevant design/drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD electrical) and familiarity with load calculation and SLD preparation.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and statutory compliance requirements (IE Rules, National Electrical Code, factory licensing norms, etc.).
- Understanding of GMP / regulatory requirements relevant to medical device or equipment manufacturing facilities.
- Strong coordination and vendor/contractor management skills.
- Good communication, documentation, and project reporting skills.
- Ability to work on-site during the project execution phase and manage multiple activities in parallel.
- May require extended working hours and travel as per project requirements.
- Exposure to on-site construction/installation workplace; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
