Drone Pilot

Role Description This is a full time, on-site role based in Visakhapatnam for a Drone Pilot Instructor in reputed RPTO.
– Drone Pilot Instructor (Small Class)
The Drone Pilot Instructor – Small Class shall be responsible for conducting theoretical, simulator and practical flight training for Remote Pilot trainees in accordance with the prevailing DGCA requirements and the RPTO’s approved Training and Procedures Manual. The Instructor shall conduct ground classes, flight demonstrations, supervised flying exercises, pre-flight and post-flight briefings, simulator sessions and trainee competency assessments. The Instructor will ensure strict compliance with flight safety procedures, airspace restrictions, aircraft operating limitations and applicable regulatory requirements.
The incumbent shall maintain accurate trainee attendance, training progress, flying records, instructor logs and other mandatory documentation and assist the Chief Remote Pilot Instructor/Accountable Manager in maintaining training standards.
The Instructor shall also ensure serviceability and proper handling of training UAS, batteries, simulators and associated equipment; report defects or safety occurrences; participate in recurrent training and standardisation activities; and undertake any other instructional or operational responsibilities assigned by the RPTO management consistent with DGCA requirements.

Educational Qualification
Minimum 10th pass or equivalent from a recognised Board. Higher technical qualification/diploma/degree in Engineering, Aviation, Electronics, Mechatronics or allied field is desirable.

Remote Pilot Qualification
Must possess a valid Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) for the applicable Small Class UAS and category/sub-category relevant to the RPTO’s approved training scope.

Instructor Qualification
Must have successfully completed the applicable DGCA-recognised/approved instructor training and assessment requirements and be eligible to function as an instructor under the RPTO’s approved training framework.

Flying Proficiency
Should demonstrate sound practical proficiency in manual and automated UAS operations, normal procedures, emergency handling, mission planning,
pre-flight/post-flight procedures and safe recovery of UAS.

Regulatory Knowledge
Thorough working knowledge of applicable DGCA UAS regulations, Drone Rules, Digital Sky requirements, airspace restrictions, operating procedures and RPTO training requirements.

Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of UAS components, flight controllers, propulsion systems, batteries, GNSS, communication links, GCS, payloads and basic troubleshooting.

Instructional Ability
Ability to conduct classroom instruction, simulator training, practical flying demonstrations, student briefings/debriefings and competency assessments.

Safety & Documentation
Should be capable of maintaining training records, flying logs, student progress records, aircraft documentation, checklists, occurrence records and other records prescribed by the RPTO.

Communication Skills
Good communication and instructional skills in English and Hindi/local language, as appropriate for trainees.

Experience
Previous UAS flying, instructional, aviation, defence or technical experience is desirable. Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrable Small Class UAS instructional/flying experience.

Medical Fitness
Must be physically and medically fit to undertake outdoor practical flying and instructional duties.

Other Requirements
Must satisfy all current DGCA eligibility, competency, certification and recurrent/continuation requirements applicable to Remote Pilot Instructors and comply with the RPTO’s approved Training and Procedures Manual.
