Position - Database Architect
Education
- BE / B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA or equivalent
- Post-graduation in technology is preferred
- Solid oral and written communication skills; well-versed with program management tools
Experience
- 10+ years of database experience in MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
- Knowledge of CEPH is mandatory
- Experience as a software developer, data architect, or in a data management role
- Expert-level knowledge of at least two database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL Server, Vertica, Snowflake, DynamoDB, MongoDB, DocumentDB, Map-R, Cassandra, etc.
- Understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies, their benefits, downsides, and best use cases
- Willingness and commitment to learn other database, automation, and cloud technologies
- Proficiency in automation
- Experience working with databases in public clouds, preferably AWS
- Strong analytical skills; ability to perform system monitoring and address issues
- Ability to do performance tuning and database development
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain high-performance, scalable, and stable data architectures for the product suite
- Research new database methods and technologies to fully utilize platform features
- Work with customers, development squads, and product management to identify and document use case scenarios
- Lead all data solution aspects, including setting data standards and providing technical expertise for best practices, systems, and architectures
- Design data architectures and solutions that are highly available and meet disaster recovery requirements
- Design effective data store solutions accounting for capacity planning, data tiering, and data life-cycle management
- Design automated deployment procedures for on-premises and cloud
- Work with QA to create detailed test plans and tooling for targeted performance at production volume
- Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems
- Participate in code reviews and create documentation for engineering and cross-functional practices
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end technical and business viability
- Work as a member of the cross-platform Database Services team
- Lead data tier architecture and design processes; participate in system and application architecture
- Support performance tuning and development of performance-critical code
- Architect and implement HA/DR/Backup/Maintenance strategies
- Collaborate with development and business teams
- Be responsible for meeting SLAs across multiple database platforms
- Troubleshoot and address issues in the systems
- Learn other database platforms and technologies
