About the internship
We are looking for a Data Quality & Validation Intern to work with real-world public transport datasets. You will help transform raw and inconsistent data into reliable, structured datasets that can be used by Metrovia's journey-planning systems.
The work combines manual data verification with Python and Ms-excel based data cleaning and validation, so this is suitable for someone who wants practical experience working with imperfect real-world data .
What you'll work on
- Review and validate timetable and transit datasets against reliable sources.
- Identify missing, incorrect, inconsistent and duplicate records.
- Verify questionable records rather than filling missing values through assumptions.
- Clean and restructure datasets using Ms-Excel,Python and Pandas.
- Perform data-quality checks and identify potential anomalies/outliers.
- Organise validated data into consistent structures for further processing.
- Document validation decisions and maintain explicit records of data sources.
- Work with the Metrovia team to improve overall dataset reliability.
What we're looking for
- Basic-to-intermediate Python skills.
- Comfortable using Ms-Excel and Pandas for data cleaning and manipulation.
- Understanding of missing values, duplicates, outliers and data validation.
- Comfortable working with CSV/tabular datasets.
- Strong attention to detail , accuracy is extremely important for this role.
- Ability to independently verify information using provided sources and instructions.
- Freshers, students, and recent graduates in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related fields are welcome to apply. Candidates with relevant academic or personal project experience are encouraged to apply, even without prior professional experience.
