About the Role

We are looking for a Commodities Research Analyst to build in-depth, reliable research on agricultural commodities. This person will study commodity varieties, quality parameters, pricing drivers, and supply-demand trends, and translate this into clear reports that inform the company's sourcing and export decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Research assigned agricultural commodities in depth, including crop varieties, grading standards, quality parameters, seasonal/harvest cycles, and production trends.
- Track and analyze factors affecting commodity prices and availability — weather, government policy (MSP, export/import duties, stock limits), global demand-supply, currency movements, and competing origin countries.
- Coordinate with suppliers and market contacts (traders, arhatiyas, FPOs, processors) over phone/email/in-person to gather information on quality, availability, and pricing.




- Undertake periodic visits to mandis, farms, or processing units (as needed, not on a continuous basis) to learn about various products and validate research.
- Maintain an organized repository of historical data, market contacts, and research learnings for commodities under coverage.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Commerce, Economics, or a related field (PG/MBA in Agribusiness is a plus).
- 2–5 years of experience in agri-commodity research, procurement, or trading — with working knowledge of the buying or selling of at least 2 agricultural commodities.
- Solid understanding of commodity quality parameters, grading norms, and variety differentiation for at least one major agri-commodity category (grains, pulses, oilseeds, spices, sugar, cotton, etc.).
- Basic understanding of export documentation and quality requirements (or willingness to learn).

Skills & Attributes

- Strong analytical skills — comfortable working with price data, government reports, and trade statistics.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with suppliers and market contacts, including in local language where needed.
- Ability to convert research and occasional field observations into clear, structured written reports.
- Comfortable with occasional travel to markets/mandis when required for specific research needs (not a frequent or continuous travel role).
- Self-starter with strong research discipline and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets for data tracking; familiarity with commodity data platforms is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with changing requirements.
