Role & responsibilities

- Create Programs: Write and test CNC programs using specialized CAM software.

- Read Blueprints: Study technical drawings and 3D models to plan the best way to cut parts.

- Choose Tools: Pick the right cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates for different materials.

- Fix Problems: Help machinists troubleshoot machine errors and fix program issues on the shop floor.

- Make It Faster: Improve existing programs to save time and reduce material waste.

Required Skills

- Software Knowledge: Know how to use CAM systems like Mastercam, PowerMill, or NX CAM.

- Technical Read: Understand blueprints, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning.

- Math Skills: Use math to calculate dimensions, angles, and machine paths.

- Communication: Work well with machine operators, engineers, and production leads.
