Position

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Department: Business Development / Sales

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting To: Business Head / Management

Industry: Engineering Visualization, 3D Animation, AR/VR & Digital Solutions

Role Objective The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing customer relationships and converting opportunities into sustainable business for Virtual Element Studios.

This is a consultative B2B sales role .

The candidate will be expected to understand the customer's business, products, processes and communication challenges and identify how VES solutions can support areas such as:

- Product marketing
- Sales presentations
- Technical communication
- Process visualization
- Customer education
- Safety & operational training
- Exhibition experiences
- AR/VR applications
- Interactive product experiences
- Digital transformation initiatives

The role requires a combination of business development, relationship management, field sales, opportunity identification and disciplined follow-up . Key Responsibilities1. New Business Development

- Identify and develop potential customers across relevant industrial sectors.
- Generate qualified business enquiries through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, exhibitions, LinkedIn, databases and market research.
- Connect with relevant decision-makers across Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Training, Operations, Safety and Digital Transformation teams.
- Conduct introductory meetings and presentations explaining VES capabilities.
- Understand upcoming projects, requirements and business opportunities within target accounts.
- Develop a healthy and continuously growing sales pipeline.

1. Client Meetings & Requirement Understanding

- Conduct online as well as face-to-face customer meetings.
- Visit industrial customers, factories, exhibitions and industrial clusters regularly.
- Understand the customer's actual business requirement rather than simply pitching VES services.
- Capture information related to project objectives, intended audience, technical inputs, timelines, expected deliverables and commercial expectations.
- Coordinate internally with the appropriate technical/creative team whenever detailed solution consultation is required.

The BDM is not expected to independently decide complex technical scope . Technical feasibility, execution strategy and effort estimation should be discussed with the relevant VES team.

1. Proposal & Opportunity Management

- Coordinate preparation of proposals, quotations, presentations and reference material.
- Ensure proposals address the customer's actual requirement and business objective.
- Maintain structured follow-up on submitted proposals.
- Identify objections, commercial concerns, approval dependencies and decision timelines.

- Negotiate commercials within the approved framework.
- Escalate requests involving major discounts, additional scope, unusual payment terms or delivery commitments to management.

No additional deliverables, free revisions, unrealistic timelines or commercial commitments should be promised without internal approval.
1. Sales Conversion & Order Closure

Take ownership of opportunities from enquiry to commercial closure.

This includes

- Requirement qualification
- Customer meetings
- Internal coordination
- Proposal submission
- Follow-ups
- Negotiation
- Commercial closure
- Purchase Order / Work Order follow-up

The objective is not only to generate meetings or enquiries but to consistently convert qualified opportunities into business.
1. Existing Account Development

Business development at VES is not limited to acquiring new customers. The BDM will also be expected to:
- Maintain regular engagement with assigned existing customers.
- Understand upcoming projects and business plans.
- Identify additional departments and stakeholders within key accounts.
- Introduce relevant VES capabilities based on customer requirements.
- Generate repeat business from existing customers.
- Reactivate dormant accounts.
- Build long-term professional relationships instead of approaching customers only when an order is expected.

Special focus should be given to account penetration — developing multiple contacts and opportunities within strategically important customers.

1. CRM & Pipeline Management

Maintain accurate and updated records in Zoho CRM . The BDM will be responsible for maintaining:

- Customer and contact information
- Enquiry details
- Opportunity value
- Current sales stage
- Proposal status
- Expected closure date
- Follow-up actions
- Customer discussions
- Lost opportunity reasons

The CRM should reflect the actual status of the chance , not an optimistic or outdated sales position. A clear and visible pipeline is an important part of the role.

1. Sales-to-Operations Handover

Once an order is confirmed, the BDM must ensure a structured handover to the Operations team. The handover should clearly communicate:
- Final approved scope
- Proposal and commercials
- Customer inputs
- Delivery commitments
- Important discussions during the sales stage
- Special customer expectations
- Items specifically included or excluded
- Any potential project risks

Final proposals and relevant inputs must be properly documented and uploaded as per the VES project initiation process. Sales continues to support the relationship and commercial communication after handover while project execution ownership moves to Operations.
1. Market & Opportunity Development

Continuously track developments in industries relevant to VES, including:
- Industrial Automation
- Robotics
- Material Handling
- Process Equipment
- Pumps, Valves & Flow Control
- EPC & Industrial Projects
- Energy & Utilities
- Automotive & Auto Components
- Electrical & Electronics
- Industrial Manufacturing
- Infrastructure
- Packaging & Material Processing
- Construction & Heavy Engineering

Identify companies, projects, expansions, exhibitions and market developments that may create opportunities for VES.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance will be evaluated using a combination of revenue performance, pipeline development and sales discipline .

Major KPIs will include

- New business revenue / order booking
- Qualified enquiries generated
- Sales pipeline value
- Proposal value generated
- Proposal-to-order conversion
- Current customer acquisition
- Repeat business from assigned accounts
- Existing account development
- Number and quality of meaningful customer meetings
- Follow-up discipline
- CRM accuracy and hygiene
- Sales forecast accuracy

Revenue targets and enquiry-generation targets will be defined periodically based on territory, experience and assigned accounts. The emphasis will be on quality of opportunities and conversion , rather than simply achieving a high number of calls or meetings.

We are looking for someone who approaches business development as:

Understand → Consult → Build Relationship → Identify Opportunity → Propose → Follow Up → Convert → Develop the Account rather than:

Call → Send Company Profile → Ask for Requirement → Follow Up

At VES, many projects are customized and technically driven. The ability to understand the customer's business challenge and connect it with the right VES solution will therefore be one of the most important capabilities for this position.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be someone who:

- Enjoys meeting customers and developing relationships.
- Is comfortable visiting factories and industrial organizations.
- Can communicate with both marketing teams and technical/engineering teams.
- Takes ownership of opportunities until closure.
- Maintains disciplined follow-up without becoming transactional.
- Can develop an account over several months rather than expecting immediate orders.
- Understands that a ₹1 lakh opportunity today can potentially become a ₹10–20 lakh annual account through strong relationship development.
- Works collaboratively with Creative, Operations and Technical teams.
- Maintains realistic commitments and protects both the customer relationship and VES's execution capability.
