Role Overview
As an Associate Product Manager, you will play a key role in shaping our payroll product line — covering India payroll (our core, high-compliance market) and global payroll (Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and beyond), while also contributing to the adoption of AI across the product. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, understand market-specific statutory and business requirements, evaluate and integrate AI-driven capabilities, and ensure our product meets the diverse needs of users across geographies.
Responsibilities Product Management
- Collaborate with users to gather feedback, identify needs, and refine existing and upcoming features across India payroll and global payroll.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather market-specific statutory, compliance, and business requirements, and contribute to a comprehensive product roadmap covering both India and global geographies.
- Document user personas, use cases, and business process flows for India and global payroll, ensuring alignment with product goals.
- Work with designers to create intuitive, compliant, and user-friendly product experiences tailored to country-specific payroll processes.
- Translate solutions into Epics and User Stories and prioritize tasks based on impact, urgency, and statutory/compliance timelines.
- Support developers and testers throughout the product delivery lifecycle, ensuring smooth implementation and optimization.
- Analyze data to extract actionable insights and drive continuous product improvement.
AI Usage & Adoption
- Identify and evaluate opportunities to embed AI/automation into payroll workflows (e.g., anomaly detection in payroll runs, conversational query resolution, intelligent compliance alerts, document/data extraction).
- Partner with engineering and data science teams to define requirements, success metrics, and guardrails for AI-powered features, including accuracy, explainability, and data privacy considerations.
- Use AI-assisted tools in day-to-day product management work — e.g., requirement drafting, competitive research, data analysis, and documentation — to improve speed and quality of output.
- Stay current on AI capabilities and regulatory developments relevant to payroll and HR technology, and assess their applicability to the product roadmap.
- Drive adoption of AI features among internal teams and customers, working with Customer Success and Sales to communicate value and address concerns (e.g., accuracy, trust, change management).
Requirements Experience
- 2–4 years in product management or product development roles.
- Familiarity with SaaS/cloud-based applications is a must.
- Experience in software delivery methodologies like Agile and Scrum.
- Exposure to payroll systems or HRMS products is highly desirable, with an understanding of India payroll compliance and/or global payroll markets.
- Exposure to AI-driven product features or working alongside data science/AI engineering teams is a plus.
Skills
- Strong product thinking with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Proficient in creating user stories, personas, wireframes, and managing requirements.
- Analytical and data-driven with an ability to draw insights from user behaviour.
- Competence in Agile practices, roadmap creation, and prioritization.
- Working knowledge of, or strong aptitude to learn, AI/ML concepts as applied to product features (e.g., large language models, automation, predictive analytics).
- Comfort using AI-assisted tools (e.g., generative AI assistants) to accelerate research, documentation, and analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in India payroll and statutory compliance (e.g., Employees' Provident Fund, Employees' State Insurance, Payment of Bonus, Skilled Tax regulations, Payment of Gratuity).
- Prior experience in global payroll or HR systems in markets like the Middle East (e.g., UAE Wage Protection System (WPS), Dubai Employee Workplace Savings (DEWS), Saudi Arabia General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI)), Singapore (Central Provident Fund (CPF),
- Exposure to AI-powered product capabilities in HRMS, fintech, or SaaS products, or direct involvement in shipping AI features.
