About the Role:
The incumbent for the Factories is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions at the Dahej manufacturing plant. This role is critical in supporting the operational goals of the factory by attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing workforce, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR in a manufacturing or industrial setting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, from shop floor to senior management.
The incumbent is expected to help Sigachi become an “Employer of Choice”.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- HR Policy & Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures in alignment with company objectives and applicable labor laws and regulations (e.g., Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, EPF, ESI, Minimum Wages Act). Stay updated on changes in labor legislation and ensure factory operations are always compliant. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with HR policies and statutory requirements. Prepare and submit necessary HR reports to government agencies as required.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Conduct thorough investigations and provide guidance to management on appropriate disciplinary measures, ensuring fairness and compliance with company policy and legal requirements. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through various employee engagement initiatives. Advise management on performance management issues, including performance improvement plans and terminations.
- Performance Management & Development: Support factory management in implementing performance appraisal systems and processes. Identify training needs for factory employees and coordinate with relevant departments or external vendors to arrange appropriate training programs (e.g., safety training, skill development, leadership training for supervisors). Support career development initiatives for factory personnel.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Collaborate with factory management and corporate office to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies for both permanent and contract roles (e.g., production operators, executives, supervisors, assistants).
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job posting, resume screening, interviewing, and offer management. Develop and implement effective onboarding programs tailored for factory employees to ensure smooth integration and understanding of safety protocols, company policies, and job expectations.
- Compensation & Benefits: Administer compensation and perks programs for factory employees, including payroll input, attendance management, shift allowances, and other factory-specific benefits. * Participate in salary surveys and provide recommendations for competitive compensation structures to attract and retain talent in the manufacturing sector. Ensure accurate and timely processing of HR-related data for payroll and benefits administration.
- Environment, Health, Safety & (EHS): Work closely with the EHS department to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all safety regulations. Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures. Assist in accident investigation from an HR perspective, ensuring proper documentation and support for employees.
- HR Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both physical and digital. Prepare various HR reports and analytics (e.g., absenteeism, turnover, recruitment metrics) to support decision-making. Manage HR aspects of factory shutdowns, expansions, or new line installations.
- Facilities Management: Oversee the general maintenance and upkeep of factory premises, including office spaces, common areas, and utilities. Manage vendor relationships for facility services (e.g., cleaning, security, catering, maintenance).
Job Specification:
- In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, specifically the Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, EPF, ESI, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Contract Labor (Regulation & Abolition) Act, etc.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the unique HR challenges within this sector.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Hands on experience in planning & executing learning programs for front line workers,
Supervisors, Middle Managers, Top Management.
- Experience in managing end to end Performance Management System (PMS), including communication, implementation & traction.
- Knowledge about Talent management (Performance – Potential mapping) is an added advantage.
Pre-requisites:
- 15 – 20 years overall work experience, with at least 4 years in and Talent Management roles.
- Graduate in any stream; MBA preferred.
- Immaculate in English, Hindi, Gujrati.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite – minimum intermediary level in Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
- Tech savvy – proven ability to use tech platforms to make impactful contributions.
- High energy, ability to energize, creative & learning mindset.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
