Role Description The Academic Counselor will work in a full-time, remote role, supporting students in their educational and career journeys. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, assessing academic performance, and helping students select suitable courses, programs, and learning paths. The role involves providing career guidance, sharing information about educational opportunities, and creating individualized development plans based on each learner’s interests and strengths.
The Academic
Counselor will also maintain accurate records of counseling interactions, collaborate with faculty and other support staff,
and organize virtual workshops or information sessions to address students’ academic and career-related needs. Regular communication with students and guardians is expected to ensure alignment on goals, progress, and next steps.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess robust Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills to support learners with course selection, academic planning, and performance improvement.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to interact clearly and professionally with students, guardians, and institutional stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess Career Counseling skills to guide learners in exploring career options, setting goals, and planning pathways aligned with their interests and abilities.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Education systems and academic programs to provide accurate, up-to-date guidance.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field are beneficial.
- Prior experience in academic counseling, student support services, or education management is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently in a remote environment, and proficiency with online communication and counseling tools are preferred.
