Role Overview
Responsible for testing and commissioning of Control & Relay Panels, Protection Relays, Protection Schemes, Protection IEDs, and communication protocols for MV and HV substations, including projects up to 765kV.
The role involves extensive site commissioning activities, troubleshooting, retrofitting, customer interaction, and preparation of commissioning documentation.
Travel Requirement: 80–90%
Key Responsibilities
Protection & Panel Testing
Testing and commissioning of Control & Relay Panels up to 765kV.
Testing and commissioning of Protection Relays & Schemes for MV and HV applications such as feeder, transformer, distance, generator, line differential, busbar, etc.
Configuration, parametrization, Goosing, interoperability, and integration of Protection IEDs with SCADA.
Communication & Integration
Configuration of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3.0, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-103.
Creation of Data Sets, RCBs, and tagging of signals.
Basic knowledge of networking and communication protocols.
Retrofitting & Troubleshooting
Retrofitting of Protection IEDs.
Troubleshooting and replacement of Control & Relay Panels (CRP).
Troubleshooting of protection and control systems during commissioning.
Testing Tools & Methods
Hands-on operating knowledge of secondary injection test kits such as Omicron, Doble, Ponovo, ISA, etc.
Experience with auto-testing methods such as OCC, State Sequencing, Distance Characteristics Testing, and Differential Characteristics Testing.
Documentation & Customer Interaction
Preparation of commissioning documents such as SAT Reports, Test Reports, Commissioning Schedule/Plans, and MOM.
Planning and execution of training courses and customer presentations.
Working with Windows, PC communication, and serial/IP communication.
Added Advantage
Experience with Protection & Control equipment and solutions, preferably with IEDs from Siemens, Alstom, SEL, GE, ABB, NR, and SIFANG.
Knowledge of Process Bus Technology.
