- Key Job ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop commercial, industrial, or domestic ovens based on customer and product requirements.
- Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solidedge,and AutoCAD
- Design system components including:
- Heating chambers
- Frames and enclosures
- Doors and hinges
- Trays, racks, and trolleys
- Insulation systems
- Heating-element mounting arrangements
- Air circulation and ducting systems
- Control-panel and electrical component mounting
- Select appropriate materials, sheet-metal thicknesses, insulation materials, fasteners, and standard components.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, specifications, and assembly drawings.
- Develop designs considering heat transfer, temperature uniformity, thermal expansion, and energy efficiency.
- Coordinate with production, fabrication, electrical, quality, purchase, and R&D; teams to ensure smooth product development and manufacturing.
- Design products for easy manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and servicing .
- Review and approve drawings before releasing them for production.
- Conduct prototype development, testing, and design validation.
- Identify design problems during assembly or testing and implement appropriate engineering modifications.
- Perform basic engineering calculations related to thermal performance, structural strength, sheet-metal design, and component sizing.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards,
customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Work with vendors to develop and technically evaluate fabricated and purchased components.
- Reduce manufacturing costs through design optimization, material optimization, standardization, and component reduction.
- Maintain and update engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and revision records.
- Investigate field failures, customer complaints, and production issues and provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support the production team during recent product introduction (NPI) and first-piece/first-batch production.
- Participate in continuous improvement and product-development projects.
- Maintain proper documentation of design changes and ensure engineering change management is followed.
- Additional Responsibilities for a Senior Design Engineer Lead new oven product development from concept to production.
- Guide junior design engineers and technicians.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Develop standardized designs and component libraries.
- Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and customized oven specifications.
- Optimize oven designs for performance, reliability, manufacturing cost, and energy consumption.
- Coordinate prototype trials and final product validation.
- Support management with technical feasibility, costing, and product-development timelines.
