Role & responsibilities :

1. Strategic Tax Leadership

- Define and drive the overall Direct and Indirect Tax strategy aligned with business goals
- Provide strategic direction on GST optimization, tax structuring, and risk mitigation
- Act as the key advisor to leadership on tax implications of business decisions, expansions, and new initiatives

2. Compliance & Governance

- Ensure end-to-end statutory compliance under all applicable Indian tax laws (GST, Income Tax, TDS, etc.)
- Establish robust internal controls and governance frameworks to ensure zero non-compliance
- Oversee closure of tax assessments, litigations, and departmental audits with minimal exposure

3. Tax Operations Oversight

- Provide oversight on GST filings, ITC optimization, reconciliations, and audits
- Review and sign-off on tax provisions, accruals, and financial statements
- Ensure accuracy in Books vs Returns reconciliation and timely closure of open items

4. Financial Controllership

- Lead general ledger governance, financial closing, and reporting accuracy
- Drive monthly P&L; reviews, variance analysis,



and financial insights for leadership
- Ensure strong financial discipline across functions

5. Planning, Budgeting & Cash Flow Management

- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Drive cash flow optimization and working capital efficiency
- Partner with business teams to ensure cost control and profitability improvement

6. Stakeholder & Team Leadership

- Lead and mentor the finance and taxation team, building future leadership pipeline
- Manage relationships with tax authorities, auditors, consultants, and external stakeholders
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and business heads

Preferred candidate profile

- Chartered Accountant (CA)
- 12 - 18 years of progressive experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
- Robust expertise in Direct Tax, GST, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience in handling audits, litigations, and tax strategy
- FMCG / Manufacturing industry experience preferred
