Power Systems Engineer
PG&E; (US based client)
Fully Remote
Exp: 10+
Key Responsibilities
Develop Transmission and Distribution network models using pandapower (Python)
Convert and validate existing network models from CYME and GE PSLF into pandapower equivalents
Ensure electrical fidelity between source models and converted models (topology, parameters, limits, results)
Work with NVIDIA engineers in developing Powerflow analysis solution using GPUs and CUDA libraries
Collaborate with power systems engineers, data scientists, and GPU/HPC specialists to enable GPU-accelerated simulations
Assist in benchmarking CPU vs GPU performance for power system studies
Document modeling assumptions, validation results, and technical findings for internal and executive audiences
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred)
Strong foundation in power system analysis, including:
Power flow (AC/DC)
Transmission and Distribution modeling
Per-unit systems and network parameters
Hands-on experience with power system planning tools
Programming experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Transmission Planning and/or Distribution Planning studies
Understanding of power system matrices (Y‑bus, Jacobian, PTDF/LODF)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Familiarity with pandapower or other open-source power system frameworks (robust plus)
Ability to work with large-scale network models and complex datasets
