Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and applications using Java as part of the Life New Business Simplification effort.
Collaborate with the Product Owner, Product Architect, Tech Lead, and fellow engineers on the Trailblazers team to translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Participate actively in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement) led by the team's Agile Lead.
Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following Nationwide engineering standards and best practices, including unit and integration testing.




Partner with Quality Engineering to support automated testing and ensure defect-free releases.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in coordination with the team's designated production support owner.
Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement of team engineering practices.
Work closely with the Product Architect to ensure solutions align with target-state architecture and integration patterns.
Support onboarding and knowledge-sharing within the team as it scales.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Solid, hands-on experience developing backend applications and services in Java (Java full-stack experience is a plus).
Experience working within an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
Robust understanding of object-oriented design, RESTful APIs, and microservices
