Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a Lead Engineer within the Materials Technology department at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will spearhead comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies encompassing internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and electric vehicle (EV) platforms to evaluate environmental impacts at both vehicle and component levels.
Your role includes performing detailed Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) analyses and assessing environmental metrics throughout the entire product lifecycle.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data that covers automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain operations.
Key deliverables include assessing and reporting on sustainability indicators such as carbon footprint, energy usage, water consumption, resource depletion, and circularity metrics.
You'll ensure compliance with internationally recognized standards including ISO 14040/14044 and evolving regulations like the EU Battery Regulation.
Partnering with multidisciplinary teams, you will gather, verify,



and scrutinize sustainability and material data to support strategic decision-making.
You will also lead initiatives to drive carbon reduction strategies, promote sustainable material use, enhance recyclability, and foster circular economy principles within product development and supply chain activities.
Your expertise will contribute to the preparation of detailed sustainability reports, performance dashboards, management presentations, and regulatory documentation. Staying ahead of emerging sustainability trends, industry benchmarks, and customer expectations relevant to the automotive sector will position you as a thought leader within the organisation.
In addition, you will leverage IMDS and other material declaration systems to guarantee regulatory compliance and effective substance management.
A vital part of your role will also be facilitating the development of an India-specific PCF database
