Job Description:
Tapco is seeking a skilled and motivated R&D; Engineer to join our team in Ambattur, Chennai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving new product development in the automotive domain, from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end new product development (concept, design, prototyping, validation, and production)
- Design and develop automotive components and systems
- Create 3D models using CAD tools (CATIA / Creo / SolidWorks)
- Perform engineering analysis and simulations (FEA/CFD)
- Develop and test prototypes analyse results and implement improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards and regulations
- Support cost optimization and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or related field
- 5–10 years of experience in automotive R&D; or product design
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA / Creo / SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of GD&T;, DFMEA, APQP
- Experience with CAE tools is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred:
- Experience in EV or advanced automotive systems
- Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, AIS, SAE)
